swedish sticker
« on: Nov 4, 2005, 09:17PM »
Hey everyone jus got my 1990 Nissan Pintara Ti, first car.
The previous senior citizen owner's 'riced up' the pintara with a sticker with sweden on it. I really want to remove it but they've put it on the back ON the paint! I was wondering if it is safe to just pull it off or will that screw up my paint? If it does can anyone suggest how to get it off?
Thanks, help would be appreciated.
(Sorry if this has already come up)

use some of that citrus type stuff, it removes stickers and residue. just dont scratch it with a scraper or sharp object, for god sakes pick at it with your fingernails, they don't screw the paint up.
you get it from the supermarket. i know theres one called big kev's (suspicious) goo remover, but theres other brands.

I think you can buy that orange stuff at Supercheap. Anything alcohol based (Metho, Isopropanol etc) should do the trick.

I'd be guessing it's a plasticy type sticker. Just try and get up a corner of it with your fingernails or a razor blade, then carefully peel it off and clean the surface underneath.

Peel the sticker off first, then use the eucalyptus oil on the residue left behind. It should work.

Other things to try are petrol and mineral turpentine.

Don't use methylated spirits because it eats paint.

Your lucky you have white paint.. If it was red or anything like mine it'll eat it's guts out..

Our car has been resprayed (and it still fades fuken), So they put a nissan stick in the place of the "trx" sticker which looks shitloads better, and when we took the sticker off it left a lighter fade of red :(.. When it's polished up you can't see it, but give it 2 days after a good polish and it's back to looking like a pink trx lol.

to be fair, it wouldn't be ANTRX if we stayed on topic.

The law states, that the darkest it can be is 35% UNLESS it came darker from the factory.

the cops can tell the age of your tint, coz when you install it the have hidden codes etc on the side of the tint. So the cops simply run a little light thingo over it and they can tell.

This is what happened to a mate of mine!

ecualyptus oil is the best for that sorta stuff.. its what surgeons use in hosptiipbles to get the residue after the wraping tape is used.

fuel will also work.. not as good as the 1st stuff tho.

The law regarding the maximum tint darkness as being 35% was introduced around 1994-1995. I don't think there was any limit prior to that. Maybe just your normal "You can't tint the whole front windscreen" etc, but nothing on darkness.

I had 15% put on mine (I like it but I reckon I could live with 10% aswell) because I wanted tint that looked good and was effective at blocking sun and the eyes of others. And for such a task, 35% is pathetic. My car (Like many here I guess) were built before this law came into place, so we can either just say "It must've gone on before that law" or "I bought the car with it".

For a long while they weren't allowing any tinting on the main part of the windscreen at all.

Most pre-90s Japanese cars came with slightly (90-95%) tinted windscreens that then needed to be replaced to get compliance.
