i am a computer drafter at work. i did a lot of study while i was in high school relating to computer drafting. i graduated as the top drafting student, and i have now been drafting for 6 years. i'm in two drafting commities at work. basically there is one that involves 8-10 people which takes care of general stuff and one that has 5 of those people in it that make the ultimate decisions according to our work, how we work and what it looks like as well as a lot of other facets of what we do. i think that the larger group is starting to be phased out though. i've been involved with these groups since they began around this time last year.
anyway on with the story, 2 of the senior (senior as in have been here for ages -these two people have around 30yrs experience between them) people from the smaller group have recommended me to upper management as someone to take on a part time customisation role within the company. so i do my normal work, then i also work on programming/customising autocad for 5hrs a week, which ultimately, is what i like to do. so yeh, they reckon if the suggestion is accepted by management and i take on this position, it will give me a lot more say in things and i will be pretty much the highest ranking/most senior draftsperson in the company. whoo
