timing chain guides
« on: Jan 18, 2009, 02:10AM »
i have recently damaged my engine from a chain guide brake and jam my timing chain sending all my pistons up and bending all my valves causing my engine to lose complete compression. I have brought another ka24 and while removing the head to replace the head gasket i have discovered this one has broken chain guides as well. Im wondering if this is a common problem and how hard they are to replace? Also does any one know if there are any such chain guides other than plastic? In my searches i havent been able to find any but dont want to put plastic back in if i can find something better

I got mine from Cheaper Auto Spares at Ashmore on the Gold Coast. They were cheaper than the nissan replacements and from memory were metal.
Oh and i put them in myself, something i would not do again unless i had all the right tools like engine crane etc.
I couldn't get the cover off the motor without lifting the motor up a bit.
