That throttle pulley on the KA tb is for one with cruise control; my KA tb only has the single pulley.

ah k sweet.... the T/B im using is the KA24E as its a direct bolt up TPS fits perfctly, and has a line out at the bottom for  one of the vacum lines... where as the CA20E has 2 outlets..

Yeah ill dig up sum old posts here..

"The ka24e t/b  has a 60mm diamiter, has no holes or anythng to patch up, besides a tiny vacum one which is easy to, a new gasket can bought direct from nissan as the wholes on t/b match up to the one on the inlet,  and the stock TPS will also bolt on too, no need to make a bracket or anything"

The Difference between the KA24E and the KA24DE...??

THE KA24E is 60MM... where as... THE KA24DE is 5 1/4 accross at the flap. but the front was about 60 accross and tapers down a bit...

"The KA24E will fit with no modifacations... And the KA24DE will fit directly but theres a coolant line that needs to be plugged.. EG T Peice for coolant lines"

CA20E Lines...

"On the KA24E T/B, there is a vacum line that is critical for a ca20 to run, there are 2 that run to the stock one, dont worry about the one that goes to the charcol canistor, just the one that goes to the distributor vacum advance,  sotck tps will go striaght on no worries

before putting on though, you have to change over the bit where the accelorater cable connects to the stock r31 item, easy to do, trick is you need to cut about 5mm off where the springs attach to at  on tb,

This looks really interesting and something I wanna know further about, except I'm kinda lost and can't get any further, what's T/B [throttle body?] and what are you trying to do here?

LMAO... Fair Dinkum ay.... GET BACK ON TOPIC!!

Right so T/B stands for Throttle Body...

CA20E uses a 54mm Throttle body...

were upgrading to the KA24E Throttle body that is 60mm...

To do this u also have 2 Port out the Intake Plenium to 60mm...

now the problem that im unsure about yet is the CA20E has sum kind of Thermo Vacume Advance thing on it that u can just unbolt n swap over... im wonderin do i still need it....??

also the intake piping from the KA24E is needed cause the CA20E one is way to small...

u then need to get a pipe mandrel bend made up 2.75 Inch that will run across to ur AFM like in the pix... also the pipe needs to be modified to have the EGR connection Fitted halfway... i will get pix of the stock intake l8er in 3weeks when im bout 2 do this mod...

Apparently u can take off the throttles and replace them wid the CA20E throttle... Also the TPS shuld be taken off and Replaced... but doesnt have to...

thats all i can think of 4 now...

more details l8er.....

Cheers...

Who else has done this mod??

How did U do it ??

just out of curiosity.... why do u want a ka24e TB on a ca20e??
Title: Re: KA24E T/B Upgrade - HOW TO MODIFY

As he said, the KA24 TB has a diameter 6mm bigger than the CA20 TB. More air into the engine=more power.

Did you say you were getting a KA24 intake pipe to use instead of the original pipe? The KA pipe will have a couple of pipes coming off it that were originally used for crankcase ventilation. Just connect whatever pipes you need to up to the pipes on the KA intake pipe.

I'm curious: do the bolt holes on the KA T/B line up with the holes in the CA manifold?

Post by: Jecks on Nov 17, 2005, 01:34PM
but even if the diameter is larger, the ca20e will still have the same diameter 'hole' to connect to the TB... so in theory wouldnt it still be sucking in the same amount of air??

excuse my ignorance, im not THAT mechanically minded...

Righto then..

The nice n shiny throttle chamber has been bored out to 60mm as part of the mod..

ill goto the Wreckers n get the other type of KA24E piping 2moro... * THINKING *

That pipe ive got ther is the CA20E one... im saying it doesnt fit..as its IDis 54mm and its OD is 60mm  and the T/B is ID60 OD 65 ?? wateva...

Anyways ive just discoverd that A Buick V6 Intake pipe the 3 inch bend is perfect for the intake... and ill have 2 look for the other type of KA24E Piping not the long S bend type..

as long as it has 2 holes in it in a similar size and position ill be able to patch into it... any other holes ill have 2 plug...

am i serisoly the only 1 who is tryin 2 do this mod ?? cause fair dinkum its hard tryin 2 discover all the How to's ya self ay...

Cheers...

If the holes aren't in the right place, just get some rubber hose and extend/replace the original hoses.

As for anyone else trying the mod, I would if I had a KA T/B.

its a direct bolt up hole wise...

u just need a 2 to 1 T Peice for 2 of the CA20E T/B lines goin into the center thing that has one metal part stikin out...

and i found a better soultion.... altho its not as good..

i got a rubber pipe thing with hose clamps from the plumbers for $12 it fits over the KA24E T/B and then the other side i use my existin pipe and i put it into the inside of this bigger pipe... n then i do the same for other end where i want it  to go from small to big 3inch intake...

when i get sum pix 2moro ull c... it goes BigRubber-SmallOrigPipe-Bigrubber  O=o=O

so yeah its gonna b a lil restricting but it saves the hassel of finding one that fits and has the correct holes...

Cheers...

i havent taken any pix yet.... cause i pulled the throttle plemum off 2 find out that....

1. i culdnt get 2 the of screws off on the throttle assembly until 2day a bloke with a impact screwdriver got em off..

2. the brake booster bolt with the long pipe i culdnt get undone....

so i put everything back 2 gether again all new gaskets...

soo much effort...

other than that its already 2 do...

i might pay 4 it 2 be done....
