E-bay car audio

I have bought all my car audio from E-bay (except for my head-unit), it all looks good but nothing has any serial numbers, i know i cant get anything fixed because of the no warranty factor, but has anyone had any problems?  It is all Alpine gear and it was all bought from E-bay stores

the chance of it being a genunin alpine unit without a serial number is slim, but also check if the seller offers any warranty or reinbursement for doa

The stuff you get off ebay is real and will not come with a serial sometimes to protect the distributor. As a distributor is only allowed to distribute to there region they scratch the serials off so they can sell them outside of there region and not get caught. You can get it repaired but not by an authorised agent however most distributors will take back there stock within 12months of purchase. Checkout www.euphourix.com.au thats where i got all my audio gear from. It was a lot cheaper and has all been really good.

They dont have much good quality stuff though. No Alpine at all. How is it cheaper? I couldn't find one product the same between the two stores. I didn't look at everything though.

yeah true, well the gear i got (rockfords) i couldn't find anywhere else cheaper.. weird.. but those subs are out of my range, too much $$ ehheeh

Alpine isn't the only decent brand out there.

Alot of the 'cheaper' brands have top quality stuff and I don't see the point in paying the premium for having Alpine stamped on the gear.

Alpine don't cover any non-Australian purchased gear, so it's a bit of a risk... We will knock back units bought from e-bay or overseas if people ask for something to be fixed. Not that it happens very often, Alpine may be just a name to some, but their products are known worldwide for quality.

Brands like mtx put out some awesome gear, great bang for your buck but if you start talking about alpines digital amps like the V12 series and above theres not a lot that compares to it and in most cases your still paying around the $1 per watt.

It all comes down to how you want it to sound...personally im quality over quantity. I dont mind spending a little bit extra to get a digital amp over say a more powerfull less featured amp.

Its all personal preference and no-one will ever agree with anyone else on the subject of audio because we all hear things differently, and have different tastes to how we like our music to be played.
