hello guys/gals since im looking at buys new wheels and SELLING MINE i was wondering what info do i need to know when looking eg 4 stud ,4x100? offset etc. so that i know they will fit my trx
cheers rich

Stud pattern is 4x114.3 and i believe you'll want +40 offset. And buy good locknuts too. I can't stress that enough....
-
Yes, locknuts are the key. :o
-
What is the offset for 17 inch wheels? I thought +38...was this correct, or will +40 still be ok without rubbing?

does anyone know about laws as to getting mags? coz i heard somewhere that u can only get 2" higher than ur stockos (ie. if u have stock 14s u can only get 16s) otherwise insurance/vicroads cracks the sh*ts?
???

this is 100% TRUE.
friend of mine has a VN Commy-dore (don't worry, i DO give him shit for it hehehe), and he had some rather spicey 18" wheels on it. cop pulled him over, and laid down the law. it being:
"you can only have wheels that are 2" bigger than your stockies" (VN's came with stock 14's and big-ass rubber on them) and he got a nice canary.
so there ya have it. it's 16" for us
>:(
as far as width goes, things are a bit more leniant.
i do know that racv will not insure if the wheels are wider than 6.5 on pinnies.

Whatever you can get away with... maximum width is supposed to be 6.5", and I believe maximum diameter is 16". That said, there are guys running diameters of 17", and myself running a width of 7". Get that up ya ;)

The trick being that you keep the stocko's in your garage for such an incident. ;D
-
hehe yeah he did have the stockies at home  :P
worst thing was, he got $165 fine, canary with 4 working days to fix (it was between xmas / new year), and it made it worse that the giant tyres he had on the wheels were so bald that they looked like slicks! Â :D then there was the 3 demerit points too.
it was just as well he didnt open the boot. this guy has 2 15" dual voice coil subs that arent even released in oz (his bro iin law works for bosch)... these things retail at a grand but he got them for 200 each... and im not kidding when i say you can here the bass 3 minutes before he arrives!!
:o

hmmm i got 7.5s..... stressin :-/
195/60R15s

Found this on the Vicroads Site:
Go to "8. WHEELS AND TYRES"
http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/vrne/vrninte.nsf/LinkView/DB1081513CC4D2E7CA256B5F007AE7F3A0E6B550C59A6444204A171BCD2A5F8F
25mm now????
-
Well 25mm is an inch... so based on the stock width you could run max 6.5's (all) or 7's (TRX only). Phew... I'm fine ;D
-
My stock wheels were 6.5 ??? :-/ on the Gli
hmmm..
-
On my specs page (http://users.tce.rmit.edu.au/e41821/Mech_Specs.gif) [from nissan] you will find that 5.5 is standard width in all U12 wheels except for TR.X and Ti which is 6.0, thus allowing 6.5 and 7.0 respectively, inches wide for aftermarket wheels.
Sometimes the problem isnt vic roads / police but the insurance companies. When i had my trx, i had 16 x 7 inch wheels on it legally. Though i had to change insurance companies cause the mob i was with said "we will only allow 1 inch bigger than standard" i didnt see a point in going to 15's personally...so i went to justcar.

maybe im reading it wrong... ::) :-/ the stockos on my Gli was 175/75R14 now i have 195/65R15
is the 175 (and 195) mentioned the width? and is that in mm?
-
Dude, look at the "wheels" figures - which are in inches.
You are correct though in guessing the 175 / 195 are width and they ARE in mm too...but they are the width of the tyres not wheels, there is a difference :)
the 14 [in 175/75r14] is also in inches, unfortunately they use 2 different measurements...its always been this way...[imperial vs metric]
