1990 u12 rear link arm bushes
« on: Dec 13, 2009, 01:28PM »
hi guys

my corsair/pinny has failed its rego check  :o

mechanic failed it on all rear link arm and trailing arm bushes

the trailing arm bushes were an easy enough fix but heres the question

how do you remove the top bolts out of the 4 rear link arms to replace the bushes

the bottom one comes out easy enough but it looks like i have to either  drop the petrol tank or the whole rear crossmember to be able to get the top rods out of the top mounting points

is that the only way as it looks like it to me

thanks

When i had them done some time ago the workshop that did mine ended up having to drop the tank a little to get to those last bolts.

if only nissan couldve been a little forward thinking when it came to these top link/control arm bolts

a thread on each end so as a nut could come off each end wouldve been the go

i might even mill myself up some new ones so no more tank dropping will be needed in future

thanks for the input fellas

appreciated

From personal experience I rekon it's easier to undo the four bolts holding up the rear frame, change all bushes out of the car and reinstall when done.

yeah all you guys are on smack! lol
like kranzy said;

jack car up & support on stands on body, sit the jack under the rear frame & jack up enough to take the weight, losten the 4 bolts but leave a few threads

now take off one side (the 2 bolts) & lower the frame to clear the tank & remove the long ass bolt & your arms..fit new bushes..put it all back together (leave bolts loose) & repeat on the other side

when your done jack the frame up to take the weight & tighten the 4 bolts & put it all back together, a few speed humps will settle everything in ;)

oh & don't forget to check wheel alignment in a week or so

on mine i put the bolts the other way just incase for next time, makes life easier
NO! it's NOT a fucking SR20!!
