14kw gain on ebay need answers
« on: Jan 12, 2004, 05:45PM »
Hi all i saw on ebay the other day that listing for a 14kw gain so i put my $4.00 bid on it and won.
being curious to see what they were on about .
I got it in the mail today so im just after other peoples opinions to see what they think about this.
So what i got for my $4.oo was a resistor and instructions on were to install it.
these instruction say to unplug the IAT sensor and put in this resistor to trick the temperature reading to the computer making the computer think its  about 45 degrees, apparently getting rid of the flat spot.
can anybody give me some input on this?

You are foolish for even paying for it. Not too long ago a bunch of Americans were suckered into this one also on ebay, but they paid a lot more than what you did. It would be impossible to experience a 14kw gain from a simple resistor, for gains like that on a naturally aspirated car you would need a very well tuned aftermarket fuel map be it on a replacement chip or a piggy back unit. Next time that you see something like this for sale, dont hesitate to ask here first before putting some of your hard earned on the table for something that it quite simply a scam. Things like resistors and electronic superchargers fit into this scam category.

Dont be offended however, if like this thread you get a reply and the thread is locked by admin.

also, you probably feel hard done by with us locking this thread, but this same scam was on ebay in america not so long ago and a few guys on teamnse got ripped off from memory, there are threads about it on teamnse, and as you can see, the same response was given by admin there, the threads were locked.

you can find the threads here.
