Title: Gear Boots & shifter
Post by: Vithy on Aug 28, 2007, 01:49PM
Im just curious as to what other methods there are of putting a leather gear boot on to the pintaras?
With mine i just stuck it over the old one since removing the old one left a massive whole in my center consol and i didnt like that much....i cut lil slits in the leather boot i bought so the old one will lock into place like it should....will do for the mean time

shifter was easy to put on...i bought one from autobarn one of them drift ones that comes with interchangable caps on the inside that are made of plastic and then u just tap and di the thread into it or in my case use brute force and screw it on...works brilliantly! and isnt loose whats so ever compared to my old one that just rotated around :(

very happy with my new shifter
not so much the boot tho

I got my mum to sew mine in. She just put some stitches through the little holes the plastic bit clips into to keep the stock one in, then i stuck the plastic bit back down again.

(I'm not very good at explaining things so i hope that makes sense)

I made a custom metal surround to replace the plastic bit... was fairly easy.  Then the boot fit the new hole perfectly :)

i took a standard shifter boot and plastic plate and took the plastic ring out of the rubber bit down the bottom. then got a retrimming stooge to do a leather job around that then just screwed it back to the standard plate  ;D
