Amazing how sluggish the auto box is...
Zander: What's the 0-100 times for the Australian Bluebird?

That fast time would be making the best use of the AWD... probably a decent rpm clutch dump.  Which the auto can't do.

Keep in mind that an auto can change gears faster than a manual with a bit work done to it.  I would very much doubt that anybody with an Attesa can match these times stated above.  I've had my auto gearbox worked and I just get 7.4 sec from 0-100 kmh.  Also note the autos are designed for a smooth ride which they do very well.  Mine on the other hand you can feel everytime I change gears even when I drive like a granny.  Pretty much like a button clutch.

I did some quarter mile runs in my Attesa a while back and the best time I got was 14.0 sec.  She averaged about 14.3 sec.  This was using stock exhaust, turbo, intercooler.  Only mod was boost controller and gearbox was toughened.  Boost was running at 9-11 PSI.

How about adding pictures to this and similar threads so that members know what they look like in comparison to Aus spec cars?

note:  I know what they look like, but I just thought this might help others :)

Fortuantely, the gearbox was rebuilt for heavy duty usage by the previous owner.  The previous owner was planning to put a T66 Turbo I think......something monstrous.  Anyhow he moved overseas before he had a chance to upgrade the turbo.  Cost of the gearbox upgrade was just under $4000.  Half the cost was labour.  The rest were parts like solennoid and seals.  I'm glad I didn't pay for it.  Though now it should never die regardless what I put in.  The previous owner wanted this car setup for drag racing and wanted the gears to changes very fast.  I have raced an R33 Skyline and crept up on him everytime he changed gears until I over took him.  So the gears do change very fast.

As for pictures I'll get around to taking some soon.  Been too busy fixing and modding stuff lately.

Well if you have the money to spend or you're up for another gearbox, it is definitely worth it.  I mean I've heard people spend the same just to fix up their manual gearbox.  The benefit of the auto is you will gearchange faster than a manual.  The only down side is it isn't as much fun as a manual when you go around corners and try to drift.  However with the Attesa's you can tell the gearbox not to change gears straight away by a switch next to the handbrake.  Vey useful when racing.  Keep in mind that the gearbox is intelligent enough to work out your style of driving within seconds and engages this feature automatically.  You can also use the overdrive button to force down a gear for the get up and go just like you would in a manual.  Bottom line is you can still have a bit of fun even though its an auto.  Atleast I do........

Budgie, do have the import U13 or and Australian delivered one?  I've come across a few import Attesa's and all the autos I've seen come with the overdrive and the gearbox select switch.  What do you have there instead?

Ohhhh, ok then.  In that case, it makes sense.  I've come across one auto U12 Attesa and I don't remember it having anything like that when I test drove it.  Must of been a U13 gimmick.....  Useful though. :)

I've had my auto gearbox worked and I just get 7.4 sec from 0-100 kmh.

Thats using a g-tech yeh? Cos a 0-100 time of 7.4 sec doesnt match up with a 1/4 mile time of 14.0, unless the thing freakin hammers after 100km/h (ie, NOS)  :-\

For eg, my magna gets to 100 in around 7.3 but its best 1/4 mile is 15.1.

I reckon your 0-100 would be in the 6's  :)

Oh and i am still keeping a U13 attessa in mind for my next car..... ;D
2.0L 4 -------> 3.0L 6. Does this mean a 4.0L 8 next?? or back to a 2.0L......turbo!

You have to consider torque/torque delivery, gearing, and aerodynamics etc too mate.
Also, he's got a turbo, you don't (right?). Turbo engines behave a lot differently to N/A engines.
My mate has a PRB Kit car with a 4AGE, does 0-100KM/H in 5.2 sec but if I remember correctly, it does the 1/4 in 15s.

Yeah thats true - damn Turbo induced torque.  And with the 4age (do you mean 4agze?? because thats a damn quick 4age?) They dont have all that much torque so i guess thats why it would suffer over 100kph.

I think the z in 4agze represents the fact that it's supercharged?

It's a 20V 4AGE black or silvertop (can't remember), it's not the old shit standard Corolla donk :)
They considered a 4AGZE but the 4AGE was a better bet.
Yeah, spot on, lacks torque too. Gotta love the nice torquey KA24DE, if only there was a KA24DET, it would leave the SR20DET for dead! :)
