fez200,

As I have said, using a U12 gearbox will be a 'down-grade' as its lacking the front LSD of most U13 boxes.  If did buy a U12 cut, it would come with driveshafts and everything however so the U12 box and shafts should bolt straight up to the U13 motor.

someone has mentioned that the U12 attessa will fit up to the motor but the driveshaft wont. that can be fixed though, have a friend who does driveshafts

when you say front LSD are you reffering to the aus spec U12/13? or the AWD as the U12 attesa is AWD too...im confused now.. ???

My friend uses a gearbox of U13 for U12.
If you change a transfer gear case ASSY for U13,
I think that you can use a gearbox of U12.

Nope, i'm refering to the RNU/HNU12's and the HNU13 ATTESA's.

The RNU/HNU12 do not have front LSD's.  IE- only one front wheel spins (say on grass) and the two back ones do as well at the same time due to the centre LSD.

On the HNU13, both front wheels will turn along with both rears (IE- All four wheels will spin on grass).

Also, what ATTESA-X mentions there is do-able.  Use a U12 transfer case on a U13 AWD box, or vice versa.  And then the driveshafts to suit.

yeah best off doing a deal with somebody on pulsar forum maybe, get a u13 front cut, you get the manual box (and maybe some other spares you need), they get the rest.

a while back i did call around a few importers for prices on just the gearbox, some said they could get for $1000, i talked them down to $950 or so including shipping to townsville. that was before i got my box rebuilt and stuff.

sorry to say but deposit has been put down on the front cut on just jap  :)

lets hope this gearbox doesnt break like the last 2 have.

will have alot of the parts left over to.

One way also is if you can source a second hand bluebird box that is broken. You can put a gtir gearset into it as they are identical internally. I chose this option for my last gearbox rebuild. will have the old gearbox laying around after i get the new one in.

In HNU13 in the case of a combination.
HNU12-GEARBOX + HNU13-TRANSFER CASE = OK
HNU13-GEARBOX + HNU12-TRANSFER CASE = NG
HNU12-GEARBOX + HNU12-TRANSFER CASE = NG

HNU13-TRANSFER TYPE=FTY10V
HNU12-TRANSFER TYPE=FTY10

U13 is different from U12 in transfer-gear specifications regardless of presence of FRONT-Viscous-LSD.
A case to use a transfer-gear of U12 must change front wheel right side drive-shaft and rear differential gear.

ive been ringing around and can only get an auto for $1100 best offer 3mnth warranty.

My replacement auto cost $500 with a 30 day warranty... plus $130 to ship the gearbox from sydney to me.

A case to use a transfer-gear of U12 must change front wheel right side drive-shaft and rear differential gear.

Front right driveshaft needs to be changed because of the extra splines required for the front LSD diff to work correctly... is that right ATTESA-X?

The rear differential gear needs to be changed to accomadate the differant final drive ratio between the centre diff within the transfer case and the final drive in the rear diff?

Is all that correct ATTESA-X?

Does anyone know where i can locate a manual gearbox from?

Anywhere?

I have put a deposit on the front cut from just jap. But they dont give any warranty that the gearbox is fine.

So i am urgently looking for a manual box.

Does anyone know where i can locate one?

Nissan quoted me $3500 for a brand new box from japan and would take 2 months to arrvie in australia.
This is now my 3rd box in the car and would like to get the car back on the road as soon as possible.

well obviously $3500 would be silly money to spend on a gearbox. you could send a f*cked box to PAR and get a gearset installed for only $500 more than that (or around that sorta figure, PPG around the $6k mark).

i wouldn't be expecting a warranty on the front cut - they can do a compression test on the engine and even run it in the front cut, but the gearbox isn't so easy. that said if the KMs on the front cut aren't too high then i wouldn't be too concerned about it.........but of course there's still a gamble.

should be able to buy a gtir gearbox though and put your old transfer case on it. the info above from attesa-x shows it'd work with a u12 box, and i've heard of u12 boxes being put in gtirs without any other mods so...

the latest gearbox that has been put in the car had the gtir gearset put into my box.

Think will just remove the gearbox myself and take it to nissan here and get them to fix whatever is wrong with it and then install it back into the car. As then they will give me a year warranty.

Man I reckon that phreeky is right you may as well get a ppg straight cut gearset if your having problems with destroying gears.

If you have gone through 3 and your spending $3500 a pop you may as well go for a straight cut gearset and save yourself the hassle and money.

Mate the GTiR gearset is identical to that of the U13 Attesa gearset, nothing at all is different about it.

What about it is actually broken?!?! Can you not engage a certain gear? Stuck in a gear? Making clicking noises? Where abouts are you located? There must be a reasonable gearbox builder near you, nissan dealerships wouldn't know what the hell they're doing.

I am aware the gearset is the same as i got it put into my last box.

I am located in rockhampton.
The local gearbox so call specialist repaired my last one and it let go while i was doing 40 in 2nd.

I was able to engage all gears but i could select second with the gearstick yet no drive would orrur. It is as if it is grabbing on little teeth on the gear.

Now i cant even move the gearstick across to selet first or second.

At least nissan are offering me a warranty unlike everwhere else here. And at half the price

Ask RareSSSBoy. He reckons he gets a whole heap of the boxes lying around after pulsar conversions. The U12 box definately fits in a U13. you just have to change the transfer case from the non LSD to the LSD that you already have. Its not hard. They are physically identical on the outside.
