I have finally after some idiot stuffed my first computer, got my chip installed through noss.
And the difference is unbelieveble, the amount of touque through the entire rev range,(which is now out to 7500rpm) is awesome.
Jtas: I would just like to clarify that antrx.com chips usually have the rev limiter set at 6,800rpm. But can be raised if requested.
If anyone has a u12 pintara ka24e, i would go and get one NOW.
I have had my head ported, cam regrind, balanced bottom end, lightened and balanced flywheel and clutch and of course the pod filter and exhaust. This got me 15.7.Now with the stage 3 chip, 3inch intake pipe and 80mm maxima afm will wash away some good time, not enough for 14s but its defenatly faster..
Ill keep you posted.
My point is they are worth the money and noss will go out of his way to help if any problems arise, like idiots that cant solder.
-
good stuff! 80mm maxima afm. If you don't mind me asking how much did that cost you?
-
What sort of lifters do you have? 7500 is a fair bit on a ka, I wouldn't be taking it that far on a regular basis hehe
-
The afm cost me $165 the chip was $200 cause i picked it up and the 3inch intake i made up at work so it was free then i needed to buy a 3inch 45degree bend $32(to go from plenum to intake) and a 3 1/2 inch to 3inch reducer pipe$28(to join the afm to the intake i also welded in all the hose
fittings like rocker cove and polution crap)
I dont know what you have done to your engine ie if its stock or not but buy doing the chip afm and 3in intake i have unleashed all my motors potential. It is that good even with a standard moyoe it will make a noticeable difference i guarantee that.
I got the big hoses from a truck parts place cause autobarn and that only sell turbo pipe that big in diameter and its like $125 for the elbow and $100 for the reducer it is a nice blue though instead of black but it works so who cares

Bugs
i just got it going tonight noss droped it off and i have standard lifters which will probably f*ck out soon, i have 2 spare sets of lifters so when there all gone ill get solid lifters installed which noss said is about $400 a cheap investment really cause the rest of my engine is bullet proof see prvious post.
-
I suppose my definition of bullet proof and your definition of it differ slightly :P
I would get those solid lifters in asap if I were you, or set the rev limit lower for the time being :)
-
im thinking i wont probably ever rev it to 7500 the cam would probably start to fade off any ways but so far up to about 7- 7200rpm its all pull, But the lifters are next on the list then after that im thinking a Nitrous express kit i want 14s but that will definately shorten the engine life by quite alot so maybe not im not sure ill see what i run at willow bank it was already quick with just the engine work (15.7)
-
the lifters arent the problem at those kinds of revs, its the bottom end.. then the lifters :P i have informed dave not to take it to the new redline all the time.. the redline was only made 7500 after he assured me that his motor was built and bottom end balanced with those kinds of rev speeds in mind.. normally a stage 3 chip has a 6800 limiter, which i also dont recommend hitting on a daily basis. but yeh, i'm sure dave will get the solid lifters in soon, he loves his car too much to destroy it.
-

Normally yes, but he says it's been balanced, so theoretically it should be the lifters..
either way, sounds like you like living on the edge trxnut :P
-
Damn straight noss lol
Also before the chip was installed it had no problems reving to 6500 and it gets oil changes every 2-3 months cause of the high engine speeds it was all ready under and it doesnt burn any either
-
Noss good stuff with the chips, trxnut you should have got the limiter set to 6500rpm, it will keep the engine alive alot longer.
-
Who's doing your lifters trxnut?
-
nice nice...
im glad you didn't run into as many problems as i did with afm's n such, I can vouch the chips ARE good, but something isn't right about my setup. I'll be doing a tune up soon and hopefully i'll be as happy as you are mate :P
keep us posted bud
-
Dave
My engine has acl pistons, and the bottom end rods, crank, flywheel and clutch have been completley balanced so if i did leave the rav limiter at 6500 ill lose more power becaese thats where the power curve of the cam is. the only weekness in my engine is the lifters and they will be solid soon.
But i see your point 7500 is hardcore
the i like it

TRX's Are the shit, Whats a quality ECU for a Near Stock TRX?
-
Yes we know TRXs are decent cars. ::)
Check this out for some ECU upgrades: http://www.antrx.com/smf/index.php?topic=3043.0

What camshaft do you have ?
If it just starts to kick in at 6500 i dare say it isn't very well designed ?
-
its a standard cam thats been machined to give you longer duration and higher lift but not as good as a billet cam thats been designed that way. you can really feel the cam kick in at about 3500rpm
-
yeh fair enough,
it's just a re-grind that's had metal welded onto it then it's grinded off to spec...they should be the same (billet would last longer and probably handle a thrashing twice as better)
meh, sounds good to me then !
have you had the car dyno'd since the rebuild ?
-
yes 118kw
-
bwahah,
im getting excited.
umm... our car is about 200kg heavier than a type r, u would of put the power on par wtith one and a itr can pull a 14.3
What am i missing ?

huh?
-
an integra type r, about 120kwatw, ~1Tonne
your trx, 118kwatw, ~1200kg
your trx = 15.7
integra type r = 14.3
I fail to see the reason for such a gap.
-
200 kg is quite a bit but im also sure i can improve on my time
-
what did you launch at ? how is tractability with that power ?
-
about 3000rpm but if i didnt get my clutch work right it would either bog down or wheel spin too much
-
chr1S, the difference would lie in the gear ratios.
-
jono
is there such thing as a close ratio box for U12
-
My brother owns a stock DC2 ITR. I wouldn't even bother racing it in my U12 atm, the only car i know that would beat it is the SV8.
-
lol there you go,
is there such thing as a close ratio box for U12
there is, but not for a fwd. only for the awd.
-
even with a clutch prob my car will take the DC2 adam :P
-
lol there you go,

nothing quite a few $$$$$$$ couldn't fix.
-
alot of turbo cars can beat itr's...
stock wrx's can, stock 200's can be beaten or they keep up, it depends how good the driver is
-
hahaha......................
my car doesnt move chris............ :D
-
even with a clutch prob my car will take the DC2 adam :P
14.5 (with a good driver) vs your old 13.9 (?)
i think you'll win.
-
ended up with a 13.6. on 11psi. wonder what a dc2 on 11psi would do??
-
rofl,
btec turbo, meh, in one of magazines ive got a b18c turbo running 13psi and it rev's all the way to 10,500 rpm :o, 353kw
-
and how often do they use all 10,500 rpm??
-
i dunno, but it's there if u want it...
high torque + high rpm = high amounts of power.

sounds like big money aswell

lol this thread is 18 months old!
-
18 months old to you lot, i'm loving reading all this stuff :D
-
I interest with this chip.
How can I get it?
Thanks
