Title: EL dials help.
Post by: Pure_Sincerity on Sep 19, 2012, 07:55PM
So I got a cluster which has el dials installed, has the inverter on the back but the white el sheet isn't connected to anything, it has goldy colored strips coming off the side of the sheet about 2" long, which must be a conductor ? But they have been cut and don't go anywhere. So all in all, they don't work. What can I do to fix this ?

Those strips are conductive film. so I take it I'll new to purchase some copper conductive film, but than, where do I connect the film to get power to the sheet ? Run it under the dash backing to the points where the inveter are connected ?

dials -> wires to inverter -> parker light circuit

the orange strip is just tape that holds down the wire, at least in the dials i had.

The el sheet needs to get power from somewhere, so I guessed it was conductive shit that needs to lead to somewhere like the circuit on the back to draw power to emit light from the same circuit the inverter is on ?

This looks like a headlight chime to me. The inverter was probably mounted separate to the cluster.

Normal clusters don't have It on the back and were supposed to use 12v inverters, this silver box has 12v written on it.

Took this straight from the U12 Corsair FSM which looks like what you got.

chime is connected to connector 2E to 2K which is exactly where its fitted on your cluster photo.

It is definitely the chime for leaving your lights on when the door is open.

The inverters I have are a bit bigger than that too, so it seems you need an inverter.
maybe you sorted it out by now?
Did you work out the paper?
