Transmission Linkage Bushs
« on: Aug 28, 2009, 07:45PM »
I changed the linkage bush's today and thought i might share the experience and save the next poor soul a ton of time!
Firstly, removing the bushs from the linkage is simple. 12mm bolt on back of transmission and 12mm bolt where shifter passes through tunnel. You will need to remove the heat shield above your cat. 5 x 10mm bolt/screws. Dont lose the spring either on the bottom of the shifter.
Once remove the shaft comes out .Basically the bushs will slide out and a metal inner remains, dont lose it, you cant buy them! Nissan dont make them anymore. The nylon bush's in each end are usually rock hard and brittle, crack and fall out. The bush on the transmission end of the linkage is welded on, bit of a pain, simply grind the ends of and punch it through the bush. Replace it with a bolt. The nylon bushs are equally hard to find. The dont show up on Nissan's spare parts computer, but and old bloke there found the part number in a book under the counter. You have 6 bushs, but usually only 4 need replacing(transmission end). cost $1 each
here is the Nissan part number which took an hour to find!!
Its actually a N14 Pulsar part
NI-314112-J8000 Socket, Control lever

Alternatively You can grab them off any N14 Pulsar KA or CA motors... But usually they are shagged too!

Hope this saves someone ages trying to find the silly bushs at nissan.
