Cost of local motorsport
« on: Apr 26, 2012, 06:21PM »
Was inspired by the top gear epesode this week (yes I still watch it on the TV with 2hrs of ads).  It was the one about motorsport being less than the cost of golf.

So I thought I would ask how much people here fork out for their motorsport hobby?
per race?
per season/year?

Maybe note if you are a in the high/mid/low end of the $$$ scale for others you race against.

Not quiet racing but I do the Street Sprints at either Lakeside or Queensland Raceway. Cost is $145 per day at approximately 8 rounds per year. That's 3 sessions per day at 6 laps per session.
You don't need a race car, you just run your everyday street car so only extra cost on the day is fuel and a AASA licence which you can get yearly or just for the day on the day.
So all up it costs me about $220 for the day, pretty good value i think and everyone pays the same.

Also, yeh that was a good episode of Topgear.

Take it to the limit - take it to the track.
speed safe; club level motorsport.
Life is like a box of chocolates.
