Probs with Temp gauge

both cars that i have driven, the corsair and the Bluebird have both had what looks like a sticky temp gauge, or it plays around at running temp, its got me confused, any ideas???????

It'll most likely be the temp sender in the intake manifold, there's one for the ecu and one for the temp gauge, the temp gauge one is the thin sensor, the ecu one is bigger. They are usually located next to one another on the intake manifold (on the KA anyway).
