nice man, what sort of paint/prepwork/priming did you do?
-
All i did was take my rotary tool to it and cut the back sort of grill thing of then sanded it back pretty rough primed it sanded it back then used a can of touch up paint and some acrylic clear coat to get it lookin nice. Its reasonable but not top notch allright for a first go i guess.

NICE i like!
-
i think a lot of people have done this its not to hard. you should give it a go vithy. good to have a little bit of rice sometimes. ;)
-
Has anyone ever thought about also removing the Nissan badge and having just all mesh??
-
.... good to have a little bit of rice sometimes. ;)
that's what i've been tryin to campaign since i joined up! :P :D

haha nice mate, i actually converted mine from silver to white today too. i didn't mesh it, just pulled the stock grille shit out with pliers. I actually meshed the one on my last trx and it looked just like that.
I attacked mine with some paint stripper, scraper and some sandpaper. I white primed it, sanded again. Primed some more sanded it and painted away, turned out bloody nice. I actually pulled my nissan badge off with a flat screwdriver so i didn't have to worry about taping it up and stuck it on again later.

i decided to leave my badge the silver paint on it is stuffed but oh well. yeah i definitely prefer the grille colour matched to the car instead of silver. looks heaps better
-
I've done this to my car too ... except i removed everything including the badge, looks the business in my opinion
-
definately makes the car look a lot better finally put it on today

i recon i will do that one day after i get around to fiberglassing my rear end up a bit
-
I was going to paint my grille white but decided against it and painted it black. The black also looks good on the pinny IMO.
Nice job on the mesh, looks sweet! :)
-
Good work... Looks nice and clean.
I painted/meshed mine in black on my white pinny... I think it gives a nice effect

-
any one cut one of these up....?
Why cut a SSS grille up, they look pretty good how they are :P
-
yeah i d probably just have an sss grille how it is they look pretty sweet normal no need to butcher them up.
-
what u use to hold the mesh there???
-
silicon...
-
i used araldite. dangerous shit dont get it on your fingers as i learnt :o
-
Yea hI did the same sort of thing too, I have a white Pinny.
Got rid of the stock honeycomb mesha dn the nissan badge to give it a sort of "letterbox" style grille.
Painted it matt black and looks schmick ;D
Definately an easy modification I would recommend to anyone.
-
What's so dangerous about Araldite? It's sticky?

Well you could stick your fingers together :P Or even stick them to your grille..."on Today Tonight, are new fashions going to far? Youth around Australia are sticking nissan grilles to their hands in an effort to join the 'cool crowd' "
-
i stuck newspaper to my fingers trying to wipe it off them. little sqaure of paper stayed there for bout a week.
-
what brand Araldite u use?? i got bostick, it sucks and yes i have been mixing it....hasnt worked for i used it for, sticking my 2 heat shields to gether didnt work and dad tried glueing my rear bar back together hahahahahahaha that didnt work lol
altho mess shouldnt take much force on it so i should be ohk this time lol
-
yeah think i used bostick as well. it was the cheapest :P juust make sure everything is really clean before you put it on and it hsould work fine
-
I personally reckon it's awesome stuff.
5min is great for general repairs, and 24hr Araldite is much stronger.
-
does anyone have a pic they could post of the grill with the badge removed too?
-
sikaflex of something similar
