U13 Rims 17 x 7.5" anyone have these fitted?
« on: Oct 15, 2005, 07:37PM »
I am going to test fit some mags this week.

What width mags are people running on their U13's, obviously 7" is pretty common but has anyone got 7.5", any troubles with them?

I have been told they will fit up no problem as long as I do not go wider than 215 tyre width.

Thanks

Depends on what offset the wheels are....... A 7.5 inch wide rim will probably tear your front guards to bits when you turn the wheels and drive up into driveways etc...
Not sure about other states, but in SA, i'm sure that you are only allowed to go one inch wider on the rims. Which means that 7.5 inch wide rims could earn you a lovely defect sticker if you get caught, or even void your insurance in an accident????

Food for thought....

Yeah i've got 17's with 225/45 tyres, and i've never had a problem with scrubbing, even at full lock. They're 7" rims and my car has been lowered 1.5". I'm pretty sure the offset of them is 40 - they were off a 180sx.

Yeah I am not too worried about about insurance, as I already know a company that will insure me with these wheels and charge me less per yr LOL

I've been told that it is mainly insurance that don't like larger rim width's, transport is more concerned with other things, but I have heard of inspectors that can be real pricks.

I was told that 215's were about as wide as you could go, 225's on a fwd car that is pushin it. These rims I am thinking of getting had 235's on them and were also on a 180sx.
Offset is +40 so it should be fine, and I will probably leave the car at the standard height.

Thanks
