Final verdict, DOHC head to SOHC block info.
« on: Dec 31, 2012, 11:05AM »
I have finished my build. Here are all the items needed and what to do.

Ka24de head
Injectors
Fuel rail
Dizzy
Intake manifold
Extractors
Custom fit all timing chain tensioners
Oil pump and oil pump cover.
Crank case breather
U13 power steering pump
Oil pump cover bracket and pulley.
U13 pulley belt.
Ignition leads
Custom fit and shave top engine mount braket
Timing chain kit

It all bolts up pretty straight forward after that. Bit of a job and cash.

#cant use aftermarket cams with SOHC pistons
#higher compression due to flat top pistons.
#extra 500rpm redline
#breathes easier in higher rpm
#more torque + more kw.

To anyone who ever decides to do this in the future, pm me and I'll help you out.

let us know the final verdict once you get it on a dyno or run a 1/4 at QR.

Cutting valve reliefs in the pistons for higher lift cams is easy for an engine machinist to do; hell, I have seen people make flycutters for this purpose from old valves.

IMHO I would say no, as you are still running a standard SOHC bottom end not prep'd and balanced for more revs.

Got in contact with the guy who rebuilt the block, it's been balanced with the rebuild kit he put in with te 0.5mm oversized pistons. Done roughly 10,000 kms

Also, when using the de extractors, you will need to remove factory fans and get a custom pipe made up from the thermo housing to the bottom radiator hose.
