IBI Bodykits
« on: Nov 11, 2009, 05:32AM »
Anyone here be interested in purchasing one of these kits?

I'm talking with maker of them at moment in US and looking at bringing more than one over to save on shipping, so question is, anyone interested in purchasing one of these kits for there U13?

They come in 2 styles - The IBI series 1 and IBI2
The only difference in the 2 kits is the front bar and slightly different sideskirts
Obviously as you can see the IBI2 front bar is a whole new front bar from ground up
The sideskirts though are only slightly changed, the IBI Series 1 has flutes in them where the IBI2 had this feature filled in
Here's some pics

This is the IBI Series 1

This is the IBI2

As for pricing, this is still yet to be confirmed but i think it will be around the 900USD+ shipping costs

Not sure how many i can bring over before shipping fees get out of hand so i think i will only be selling 1 maybe 2 kits maximum as i'm keeping an IBI2 kit for myself

So who's interested?

What is the point of a signature, who REALLY reads it??

Found my username and password...I haven't been on here in ages! Anyway, if anyone has any direct questions fire away. I've emailed the fiberglass shop tonight and expect some kind of response by tomorrow. (It's 6:38pm here right now.)

If you have any fitment, quality/toughness, technical questions, requests for images or anything like that though, I'm in a position to answer those any time.
Cheers all!

I've always loved the IBI kits, especially the one we have on our front page random pics.
Think it was your Gunmetal grey U13.
If I had a u13 i'd definately get one.

Hey Luke, thanks for the compliment! Those are wheels I bought on eBay pretty cheap actually...CDN and AUS dollars are almost equal I believe (0.98 to a dollar) and those cost me $500 plus shipping. I bought 4 identical tires in groups of 2 from two different people locally, and those cost me about $100 each (new, but without stickers). The wheels are 19"x7.5" ADR Fuel, in bronze. The bronze is quite grey though, and matched the car's paint sometimes, depending on lighting. The end caps don't fit over the front spindle on a U13 by the way, and no matter what I did I was not able to mount them on my P11.)

I should put up pics of the P11 someday.

I just received word from the shop and my cost has gone up...a LOT. The last kits I made were in 2004 and this was just before the crude oil spike (from which we have still not recovered) so the petroleum-based products used as well as transport costs (resin in 50 gallon drums weighs a lot) and I imagine the overseas shipping will not be pretty either.

All that to say, I will not really make any money on this AND the kits will be quite expensive still. There IS a slight upside, which is that at least the fitment is extremely good and therefore your bodyshop costs will be drastically reduced compared to a 'budget' local kit. Also, the kits are ridiculously durable so you won't be having repair/repaint issues every six weeks. I have to price my kits in US dollars because that is the only way to ensure that no one gets ripped off on ever-changing exchange rates. The bulk of my clients have always been in the USA so I have to have protection in place for a possible influx of orders from there. Fortunately for YOU guys, the US dollar is extremely weak right now.

The prices are in the next post because I've run out of room.

front bar: $425.00 USD
rear bar: $425.00 USD
sideskirts (pair): $425.00 USD

full kit: $1100.00 USD

shipping: anyone's guess

Keep in mind that overseas shipping is calculated primarily on cubic volume, and two kits fit inside one box (to the best of my recollection). Therefore in theory shipping two kits should cost the same as shipping one. Feel free to investigate shipping on your end and I will work with whatever freight forwarders you find. As of yet, I have not shipped a kit across the ocean - so you guys would be the first to have them.

If you have ANY questions about installation or whathaveyou, please ASK!

I'm in but have no idea who to contact over here about shipping

If you can find out if 2 kits definately fit in one box that would be good as surely at least one other person here would be interested

Right?  ;)

No worries, I'd actually emailed the shop this morning with that very question so just waiting for a reply. I also need to know if I have any boxes left in storage over there - if not I have to order some more, and they're $40 each!

Honestly what your charging isn't massive compared to alot of bodykits. Especially considering you are doing a limited batch. I don't have a u13 but it'd be great seeing some with those kits in Aus.

Still haven't answered me, the buggers. I'll try again.

Also: bad news about the headlights man, I couldn't find them ANYWHERE, and a thorough search of my email shows me I already sold them in September of 2008! :(

This is a direct quote from my supplier...so we are in need of information and ideas as far as shipping goes!

"Hi Jeff:

I can’t remember if 2 kits fit in one box and I don’t have any boxes left.  The other thing you need to be aware of is if you are shipping to Australia there are very stringent requirements as to shipping containers.  No wood products can be shipped unless they are built by an approved shop.  The other thing is your parts would never survive the trip in a cardboard box (if it is even allowed).  They ship the product to Montreal and then it is containerized.  Therefore the product must be packaged in such a way that if other things are piled on top of it, it won’t collapse.  I shipped a trailer to Australia a year ago and the crate cost me over $400.00 (normal crate cost is $50.00) so keep that in mind as the shipping company won’t take it unless it is approved and you have the paperwork to prove it."

Ideas? Contacts in shipping industry, anyone?

Dear Jeff

Thank you for contacting UBox Worldwide.

From: warehouse in Montreal
To: warehouse in Brisbane

TOTAL cubic feet: 47.5

Rate per cubic foot: $12.5
COST: $593.75

Additional cost:
   Documentation Fee: $25
   Canadian border crossing fee: $75
Warehouse surcharge - per cubic meter (35 cft) : $8

Total ocean freight costs: $701.75

I haven't forgotten about you guys...I met a man today who handles worldwide logistics and he said he's sure he can't work something out that will be far more cost-effective - maybe even a longterm solution for people who want stuff in future. I may be buying a Nissan Xterra from him tomorrow. :D

Sorry for not updating earlier...the holidays meant I was really busy and a lot of the people I needed to contact about this were on vacation.
