Seat of your pants
« on: Oct 30, 2003, 09:33AM »
The seats in my trx a becoming a bit old, and their age is becoming evident.

Has anybody upgraded thier seats to a different item? IMO the front seats aren't my cup of tea because passengers and me get shifted around (well passengers go flying, but i told them to hold tight). I used to drive my mum's verada wagon and I never used to move around in the seat as much.

Is there anyway to modify the seat, as to provide some support around the ribs and thigh area to prevent this from happening, or is simply better to change the seats. BTW i dont wanna spend $2-$3000 on full on racing seats, cos the car's market value is only 5500 (its priceless to me).

I was going to go for aftermarket seats, but decided against it for now. Any seats can be adapted to fit to the base frame, if i were going to change seats i'd get WRX ones if they didn't cost much (ie $800 a pair or something).

I broke my seat @eastern creek on the weekend and ive been looking at after market seats but i looked @ wrx seats as well but for a big guy like me the steal bits in the side make it very uncomforable to get in and out im currently looking for some seats out of a vx r8 clubsport wich are the same as in my dads car but the problem is that they are very rare. And  they are extreamly comforable. then ill get them retrimed o suit the trx

obviously when I spend time in other cars it's mostly in Festivas and a VK Commodore, I tend to appreciate the comfort of the TRX's seats... I think they're very nice!

beefy, don't forget very expensive!!! I looked into a seat made by Corbeau in the USA called the Forza II, apparently good for big guys. Plain black, fixed back...only problem is, no one imports them here.  :'(
Sparco make some of the best seats around, especially for the price.

althought any base frame can be adapted to fit, the pintara has minimal room to fit aftermarket seats.. most aftermarket seats on the market are too wide & will hit either the b-pillar or hit the other seat in the middle.

of 10 or so models of seat myself & kenyy brockelstein looked at a few months back, only one pair would fit in the pintara.

Rich, I think nissan gets the seats right most of the time.  My mates '86 Pulsar's seats are damn good, so was his older Bluebirds, and I think mine are pretty damn comfortable.  Do the japanese RNU12's ATESSA's have differant seats at all?

Mmmm... $1500 is a bit steep.. I emailed Sydney City Subaru spare parts division to see if they can get anything, cos $800 bucks sounds good to me, despite the fact its uncomfortable gettin in and out.

That's 2nd hand, they'll probably want in excess of $1k each seat.

Just re-pad and re-trim your existing seats, you'll be amazed at how good a "new" TRX seat would be.  Also keeps that stock sort of look.

Homer!  What have you done to the car?  I don't think it had broken axles before.

Before!  Before!  You're living in the past, Marge.  Quit living in the past.

What, I never said I didn't like it asshat! :P

At least I don't think I did... but if I did, then I'm the asshat.

I can vouch for that, i'm amazed every time i sit in the passenger seat how comfy and snug it is. Wraps round me better than the driver's seat.

if you want standard seats Ti seats are the shit! they are the same style as the trx seat so they hug your body but they are ultra cushie (being the luxury model & all) so i reckon try to grab them if your on a budget..

as for putting in seats that are much older.. use some common sense.

You can't with standard seats. I don't know about you, but i know i can't get my hand down between the centre console and the seat to adjust the back of the seat.

I'm still thinking about one of these for driver's side:
