maybe from k-mart.

the crappest batteries at supercheap are 89.50 and for a 3yr warranty one you're looking at around 160-170

It could be the battery. My sr was doing this recently, then the battery went downhill pretty quick and i had to get a new one but now it starts very quickly and easily.

Depends on how hard you need to make the starter work to turn the engine over.

Id try and swap in a battery before spending up big on a new one though...

Count the teeth on the starter motor pinion first, see if there's the same number. Measure the diameter of the mounting holes, and bolt pattern. Other than that there's no other easy way to compare them.

I know that they're the same as far as electrical wiring goes.

Whoops, I was thinking starter motor for some reason.

If it physically fits then it should work fine. The plugs are different but the wire colours are the same. You can take the pulleys off the front of them and might be able to swap them over if you need to.

The only difference on the electrical side of things is that the CA alternator is a 70 amp, KA is 80 amp output.

yeah I'd just try fit it... if it fits its going to help.  Then just take to a battery place and measure the voltage across terminals wen the car is going.  Anything over 12V and the altinator is a good fit, less than that and you'll have to get another altinator.
