How to get into a boot when it doesnt open
« on: Oct 1, 2007, 07:03PM »
Hey, pretty self explaintory really. I cant open my boot (u13 attesa)... any one know any ways to get inside so i can open/ fix it?
Basically i think there is something wrong with the latch. Cause is has been playing up for awhile. But now it just wont open. And the dam ski door is of about zero help lol. I was thinking of taking the back seat out? will that work? What is there in the way of screws or clips holding it in place?
Oh and the key doesnt open it. It never has since ive owned it. Any help would be super l0l

removing the back seat won't do a whole lot of good on a u13, but if memory serves the hole is big enough for a person to fit through. Removing the seat is pretty simple, start with the bottom part (there are 2 12 or 14mm bolts) then the back rest needs a futher 2 bolts and a screw (in the ski port) to be undone and it'll just pop out (push it upwards)

however once your in there I'm not sure what you could do to open it?

Do you know where the two backrest ones are? I couldnt really find them? I figured there were a few around the middle. Plus once i get in the boot ill be able to at least release the boot latch hopefully :|

You can release the boot latch from the inside of the boot quite easily, a mate of mine wanted to test it was possible (before i put in the stereo). Get small person to go through the ski hole and fiddle, it should open no worries.

Bolts for the backrest are down near the seatbelt anchoring points on each side. But yeh, you have to remove the seat cushion part first to see them.

EDIT: you know what, I'm going to do a write up on it (being a public holiday with nothing better to do!) will be back in about 30mins :)

If you undo the bolts holding on the metal plate around the ski port you should be able to get in there easily.
