INSTALLING U12 FWD SHORT THROW SHIFT KIT?
« on: Aug 6, 2008, 08:47PM »
How much stuffing around is it to install short shifters in the fwd u12 as i got mine today. Thought I might ask before I do it as I haven't really messed with these much before. Looks like the exhaust needs to be dropped, cover shield (heat cover) taken off and dropped down to remove the original shifter then replaced with the new. From there i'm not sure.

Haha should I crank out the search function? There are plenty of threads...

Don't mean to be a prick but yeh, been covered before many times.

One hint, allow more time than you think it'll take  ;)

you need to take off the boot shifter take out the front part of the exhaust drop the cover off then remove the 2/4 bolts on top it should just fall out after that
BTW where did you get a short shifter for it ??

What I did was remove the cat (on the car and not a pet...  ::) ) by unbolting off it off the flanges.

Remove heat shield, under the retain nuts etc and for the love christ be careful with the huge rubber mount that holds the entire shifter up as I broke mine and car was out of action for a month before finding a good condition one from the wreckers.

Remove the old shifter, insert new (I have the N14 one as well, I found the current U12 Shifter bush is too big and is stiff to shift so I advise to trim it down).

Reinstall in the reverse dodgy off the top of my head instructions and please use thread locker on the return spring nut as mine fell of while driving... currently I have short throw but no return spring and too big bush... :-\

Later Masterbator... Btw Tazza255 nice Superhatch mate... I is own as well...  ;D
Ill fight you. May even throw a bar of soap your way. Maybe a few wax strips and some clip on brembo brake calipers for your fooly sic civic.
