Tickin noise
« on: Sep 6, 2006, 04:50PM »
hey!
Recently Ive been driving around and my car has been making a sort of ticking sound. It sounds similar to that of sticky lifters but it only happens from about 2 and a half (rpm) and only when there is load on the car (ie not if its in neutral and rev it). The only time i can really hear it tho is when i go past a wall or a fence or other cars. Just wondering if anyone even has the slightest clue as to what I'm talking about and if they do any idea as to what it may be. Cause i have absolutely no idea where abouts to start.....sort thinking drive train but hopefully not.

Any help would be awsome
Cheers - Brendan

same as what wolf in sheeps clothing said, I have the ka24e motor and makes the same noises under the same conditions as yours and am about to replace all the lifters in my engine. Not cheap either. $341.55 before tax. OUCH. Don't know with your engine but the lifters in my car are all different from each other.

Take off the rocker cover and check how how play there is on the lifters.
Your car may be able to go faster.
But I can go any where. except into a garage, underground carpark, bridge...

2 sticks and manual locking hubs. have to get out to drive it around
