Title: part name, part number
Post by: tiger76 on Jul 22, 2013, 09:01AM
Is this a temp sensor,
Located driverside back of motor behind injectors. Pugs into lube wiring there.
If so does any one know the brand and part number ?. Dam thing shat its self last night.
When connected no fan, discounted bloody fan runs. Eng sounds a bit lounder off then on. Connection stuffed. Mechanics said temp sensor.

It is supposed to operate that way. So if there is no signal being received by ecu then turn on fans as a safety. The fans shouldnt run all the time.

If your idling and the temp reaches the top dot and the fans dont come on then you could have a problem. First thing is to take it out and have a look. My old pintara, the fans were coming on when the car was too hot, coolant sensor was dirty/corroded, cleaned it with some emery paper and it was as good as new.

Do that first, and if still no joy then replace.

Is the connection INTO the sensor stuffed, or is the actual sensor stuffed?

That Coolant Temp Sensor (the bigger one of the two) sends the engine coolant temperature back to the ecu and the ecu uses it in several ways. One of which is to switch the fans on when a certain temperature is reached (90 deg C from memory; off at 80-85 deg C).

looking from front of caar under boot, left side behind the injector, gonna replace that sensor, clean it and still show above high on temp gauge inside car, driver side fan comes on when unplugged. new thermo in and cooling system flush and refilled with coolant, motor stays warm to touch...

also gonna have to change all the engine mounts for 2.4 Lt fwd, auto, ka24e motor, how many do i need, cant get under it to see? do you know parts number for all of what needed for kelpo mounts....
