Power Antenna
« on: May 1, 2006, 04:45PM »
Hey guys, I have a problem I need a solution to.

My headunit does not have a separate remote wire for the antenna and amp's so I have to use the same wire for both, which is ok in theory but id prefer not to because I don't want the antenna to come up as soon as the HU is on, because I don't really want it being ripped out by the trees on my driveway like the one on my last car did. So I want to know if theres a way to wire it up to a switch or something so I can controll if the antenna is up or down.

Would it be possible to put a switch between the HU and the antenna on the remote wire and switch it from there?

If theres no solution to this I'm just not going to connect the antenna, I don't use it really, It would just be nice to have it in case i feel like listening to the radio.

Put a switch on the antenna just before it :), I'm not sure if it will work, but you can try ?
Don't let the opinions of the average man sway you. Dream, and he thinks you're crazy. Succeed, and he thinks you're lucky. Acquire wealth, and he thinks you're greedy. Pay no attention. He simply doesn't understand.

to be fair, it wouldn't be ANTRX if we stayed on topic.

What you said in the first post would work perfectly. Put the switch on the remote wire that goes to the antenna from the head unit.
