usually the o2 sensor isnt in operation before the car is started as the o2 sensor has nothin to measure ie air/fuel mixture, because nothing has been ignited on power stroke. so i dont think this is what is causing the flooding.

although it comes to the pioint if the guys who welded the engine pipe didnt remove the 02 sensor they might have damaged it from welding spatter (excess molten metal) and some got caught on the o2 sensor. so check it anyway, a really dirty o2 sensor isnt good.

also should check ur injectors, if they are leaking well theres ur prob with flooding. because we are talking about excess fuel into the combustion chambers. and this is where the fuel comes from.

whenever u start ur car, the fuel is primed to the fuel rail then to the injectors. when the car is started as far as i know with this efi system, all injectiors are fired at once. but on the off hand u have leaky injectors, the priming of the fuel system could have enough pressure for fuel to leak from the injectors in theory casuing the car to flood and black smoke from the exhaust, on statrt up.. when it does.

check out this with a mechanic, or specialised injection cleaning service. injectors should be cleaned every once in a while, not with that injection cleaner stuff u buy from repco, but actually cleaned one by one. i think its like 15 dollars per injector. also the in jection service should also be able to tell u if the are faulty as they will have to bench test them to see what pressures the injectors can withstand according to specs.

now ive gone into a fair bit of shit, so i hope u can undertsand.

so conclusion!!! get ur o2 sensor checked, and injectors checked.

have a nice day  :)
