I was under the same impression.....i'll find out in the morning.
The guy i deal with at FTG nissan knows i only order parts for the KA, so he couldn't have mixed it up with any other part...i hope.

Ok, genuine from nissan the rotor head (or button as it's more commonly known) is $25.75 and it's part no. is 22157-54CO1, distributor cap is $30.75 and it's part no. is 22162-30ROO.
These items only need to be inspected every 20,000km (if i remember correctly) and only need to be replaced if cracking occurs in the cap. I would replace both of these at the same time, and every 50,000-100,000kms.
I think its cured my slight misfire at idle.

the rotor button, like flogtara said, fires the plugs by rotating at camshaft speed and touches the metal contacts in the distributor cap.
i'll post a pic of my old rotor button cos that was stuffed.

There worth more you dope :p. Ca20 & the KA24 are verry diffrent engines, i got my rotor for $42 and i doubt you'd find it cheaper then 35 anywhere bar at mate rates. My dizzy was only $15.50 though.

Ultratune tried to sell me a new rotor button and distributor cap for $185.00  I said nup ill do it myself.  They also said they'd put new leads on for $160.00 I also told them to "eat a dick"

I'll be doing some shopping before i buy my new ones.  I need new 1's soon and probably get it all done with the new mods coming, but god twin spark hits u in the back pocket a bit mroe than single!

ive replaced my rotor button and its not missing at idle now.  but i was told the reason for the old one burning up was because of dodgy leads, which makes sense because i dont think mine have ever been replaced... they have now :)

On the topic of Dizzy Caps....Between it and the engine, there is a very thin rubber seal, or washers that sits neatly in there. Mine is cracked and oil is slowly, and in very small amounts dripping out. Anyone know where I can pick another one of these up from??? Just the washer that is? Cause I got a new cap, and it didnt have one in there!

Mitza I'm having that same problem, but the stretched seal is only the result of a leaking oil seal somewhere else in the head. I'm thinking the oil seal that separates the head & distributer assy? You'll need to replace this first, THEN replace the dizzy seal, else you'll just continue to have repeats of the problem.

I don't know the part number, but when I did try and get a Bosch distributor cap the Bosch catalogue was wrong,  the cap that was listed in the catalogue was about half the size of the right one, and the listing for the rotor button was wrong as well :o  I couldn't find a bosch cap or button that was right, so I just bought OEM parts.

Bosch Dist cap ~ $12
Bosch Rotor ~ $4

They've finally got the right part for the KA24 & SR20 - were wrong in the past. I'll get the part numbers soon - catalogue is still wrong. All 4 cly caps are around the $10 - $15 mark

replaced distributor cap  (noticed very slight cracks) and even changed the distributor to try to stop it missing and bogging down, only to find out it was the fuel pressure regulator.  Bloody thing.  (lucky i had a spare)  So if your ka24 is hard to start and has a problem with power loss,  check this damn thing first.
where was i?
oh yeah....................distr ibutor cap      echlin brand  $28   part number ep851
                               rotor button                           $7.50 (didn't buy)
i am happy now apart from the fuel spraying out from a busted injector o-ring

They also said they'd put new leads on for $160.00

Damm 160 is just to much good on ya for telling them. When i got my cap and rotor a asked about top gun leads and was told like 5-8bucks any lenght i want. gona get some lead soon.
*note the lead is actually just the lead without the contact thingy that is hooked up on the sparks and cap* just have to use the old ones if their in good condish.

guys i just go one of these things from Nissan for $14.75, they call it an o ring (I thought they were going to give me the wrong part)
it's part # N2218530R00

Is there any other seals within the distributor besides the O ring around the Base of the distributor that is visible when the distributor is removed and the other that goes directly under the cap?
My old man thinks there should be one somewhere inside the distributor that is allowing the oil to get in.
