Valve springs

Hi all, I just got a new cam from crows but they can only supply me with single valve springs,

A: Whats the difference between single and double

B: can I source double somewhere else to suit my cam? 270/270

what rate are the singles?

You can probably get away with using the OE inner springs with the new Crow outers.

You can probably get away with using the OE inner springs with the new Crow outers.

depends on the installed height as well and the spring seat tension and then has to be checked for coil bind, crow often use single springs as they are easier to source (parts wise) and less complicated than making sure that the compression and rebound rate of both springs are matched, down side is that the single spring is made of a thicker gauge wire and they have less clearance at full lift.

Hallo,

I'm looking for explanation for the fact that in many diesel engines we have two springs supporting the piston valves such that one is exterior and the other interior and they have opposite helical direction. Also if anyone have a link or any information it would be very helpful.
