U12 rs5f50 final drive options
« on: May 26, 2012, 04:13AM »
Whats up guys, been a few years since ive been on here. Anyway i decided to resurrect my ka24de into u12 project and looking at my vin plate the other day i discovered that the stock rs5f50a open diff gearbox has a 3.6 final drive. This might explain why my et's and especially 60ft at the 1/8 mile always sucked. My question is are any of you aware of where to get a 4.1 or 4.47 final drive for these transmissions? The only thing iv'e turned up so far is that the 89-90 pulsar with the same transmission (different bell housing) had a 4.47 but im having a hard time confirming that, has anyone else thought of this or performed a succesful final drive swap? Appreciate any responses guys.

edit: Just realized this might be more appropriate in the performance and handling section, could i get a mod to move it possibly?

I think the puslar boxes are the 32 series boxes, the 50's series boxes are from the KA.

^ Right, they also had a 31 series gearbox for the ga16 which came in the b13/14 at least here in the u.s. , those boxes had a 3.8 final drive where the 32 series all came with 4.1 or 4.47. Right now the most promising seems to be the 89-90 pulsar which has the same 50 series as the u12/u13/a32, but likely has the 4.47, im going to try to hit up some yards in the near future and look for some. I would really like to finish this project but the whole 3.6 final drive thing is realy bumming me out.\

Edit: Also just to not get it confused im referring to the n13 pulsar nx which in the u.s. came exclusively with the ca18de.

CA20 U12 variant came with a 3.9 FD, been meaning to try and get my hands on one to fit to a RS5F50A KA box.
