amp needed
« on: Aug 30, 2003, 02:59PM »
I recently blew up my old proactive audio 120 x 2 amp that was driving my 12 inch sub.. Anyway, i bin lookin at all the cash converters stors and cant find anything decent for around 100 bucks. Almost bought a Ford one yesterday out of an AU falcon 4 70 bucks . It was a huuge amp,two times the size of a phone book. Anyway, connected it up and it didn't have nearly enough power 2 drive the sub!!!

Can anyone reccomend a good amp 4 about the $100 mark???

That ford amp.....hmmmmm.
My dad drives a 98 EL fairmont gear, and its got a nice amp tuckd away in the boot. From the design (amp housing) you can tell it was an alpine.
Not bad for a stocky!!

to be fair, it wouldn't be ANTRX if we stayed on topic.

and if someone wasn't cranky at Chr1s for something he said...

How much power does the sub need? For most subs there's no way you're gonna get a "decent" amp to power it for $100, unless someone is prepared to sell a 2nd hand amp for dirt cheap. All I can suggest is keeping an eye out for a 2nd hand response (jaycar) amp with enough power for your sub. They're usually pretty cheap. As beefy already suggested the teamcaa.com for sale section in the forums is probably the best place online to find some 2nd hand amps.

Here's an idea of what you can get the response amps for new:
