6s or splits?

ok ive got about 150-200 to spend on front speakers, until yesterday i was looking at splits, but i was talking to a guy at the shop and he basically told me for that price i'll get
shitty splits and i should go for 6 inches... his arguement was that the crossover in the splits isnt that good, the cones are of an inferior quality and whilst 6s arent physically directowards the passenger, they are able to be run harder, give a crisper sound, etc.... what u guys reckon? splits or 6s????

I've got splits up front, not super high quality ones.  They are Clarion's rated for 40wrms.

It sounds so much better with the tweeter aimed at you.

I'd say go the splits.

Chucky with your limited budget i would go with a set of alpine type s coaxils they sound so good i have a set in my rear doors and i have alpine type r splits up front and i think for 179 they are gereat value and are nearly as good as the type rs wich have a rrp of 459

you could always go the jaycar option, i've heard that the jaycar splits run with the best of them (well, in the ~$400 range) and for around $200 for kevlar they're great value, i've listened to them myself & they're quite good..

but yeah, if you wanna go brand names and your going to an audio shop, definately avoid splits in your price range..

but you know, if you wander around 2nd hand dealers, you can pick up top quality goods within your price range.. and most of the time the gear has hardly been used, if at all

i can say il highly reccomend the jbl 6x4'' g series speakers. for around 140 and minimal modifications to fit (ie 4 drill holes into the existing spacer) there certainly right on, excellent clarity, not much bass, but from a headunit without and amp after into these there right on  ;D then keep working along the libes for the rears which can be anything.. have fun

I got Bluakpaunt (spelling???) 5.5 inch splits up front and I love them.

If u wanna save a bit more, My mate got a set of pioneer 5.6 inch bullet splits, 1625's is the model number for $240 cash from jb hi fi here in sydney.

Could do the same deal in a jb hi fi near u! and they sound great too!!!
