Good news for CA20E owners.
« on: Apr 5, 2003, 08:46PM »
I've done some research and here is what I have found.

The CA18DET engine mounts are the same as the CA20E  ;D
The CA20E gearbox is a direct bolt on...  ;D

Maybe a better option over the SR20DET... well, easier anyways.

man, that would go so nice, apparently the ca18 revs nicer than the sr20, and if it goes in that easy, it would be so sweet, though theres a u12 bluebird with the CA18det and 4wd for sale in brissy i think

I'd need an ECU and all the sensors, so maybe a front cut would make things easier? Anybody know where I'll find one in melb?

if you buy the engine + loom, you get all the sensors too, no point spending money if you dont need to

with the r31 pintara, you can fit the ca18 without having to buy a gearbox of mounts. or you can get r31 skyline mounts and fit either an rb20, rb25 or rb30. but of course, you'd need the gearbox.

I'd fit the RB20 to the R31 IMO. It's a pretty heavy car if i'm not mistaken?

it is, but I'm not sure, I'll probably just put another CA20 in (1335kg auto GXE wagon)

nah, make a beast champ  ;D

rb30's are cheap, and rb20det's are reasonably cheap. for that matter most engines are cheap, you'd be looking at spending the same money on a ca20 as an rb20.

but still, allow a little bit of extra cash for bigger brakes & better fuel pump for the better engine.

I've decided that being only 18, insurance would be a bit of a bitch if I put any go-fast engines in this Pintara, so I am considering getting another Pintara/Skyline (probly Pintara), and using the old one for parts (or selling it), then I might be able to get a manual too :)
