George the R31 is not well - he won't idle or accelerate

Hi everyone,

My R31, old George, has picked up a gremlin. He'll start, and it will be well... weird. it'll idle but every so often, it will skip a beat, but it's not regular.

I think a sensor's gone, because some of the time, it will, when stopped at an intersection, it will almost sound like it's sparking in the wrong place, it runs as rough as a hessian bag, and will not accelerate at all. But he'll shake himself off, and go at his usual clip after about 3000 revs.

Don't know how to run diagnostics, can't afford to pay the Nissan mechanic.

Help would be appreciated. Thanks people!

I had that awhile ago after getting my car tuned at RPM. it turned out to be a fucked AFM, o2 sensor and fuel pump. I was unlcuky. it could be simpyl a 02 sensor or AFM.

What is happening is at low revs your engine is literally flooding then once u get the revs up its still putting in the same amount of fuel but u actually need that amount. Look behind u when it does that studder. U will see a nice black cloud of smoke. If u didnt have a cat u would also see nice mass flames. When mine did it i had flames shooting from the exhaust that were mass. Its not good lol

id say its a sensor. browney have u got the manual, so u can scan how to do the dignostic test, i only have it for the ca20e
just local meccies will do a diagnostic test for 2 parts of fuck all though

Finally, I can update on the saga. My computer at home refuses to post to antrx 

Took George to the mechanic - afm and airbox were full of oil he reckons. Suppose that means my valves are crook and letting oil backwards through the inlets. Sounds expensive if that's it though.

Diagnostics came up fine, he said. I'll have a look at it on Friday, though. He's a good mechanic, but sometimes, it pays to check up.

There's still a bit of a surge in power, acceleration in 2nd with a constant throttle opening (not full) and the speed won't go up constantly, it's kinda jerky, but in waves.

i had that prob once. gave the throttle body a flush, cleared that shit right up
