Fuel Pump order not correct - DW301
« on: May 14, 2012, 12:50PM »
Hi guys

I went to Autobarn today to pick up my ordered fuel pump. When I spoke with them on the phone they stated that the Walbro GS342 was no longer made but that a new model which had surpassed it has come out. I stated that wasn't an issue and I would come in to pay a deposit.

I come to pick up the part and notice on the box that it is a Deatschwerks fuel pump which is definintely not a Walbro. So for the record the GSS342 is still being made!

The Deatschwerks fuel pump flows up to the 305 LPH and will be enough for my car but I thought I would do some research and see what you guys think. The Deatschwerks fuel pump is $250 currently.

I also found the Walbro on Ebay for $120 with free postage (see link below)

 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Walbro-255LPH-Tank-Fuel-Pump-GSS342-w-Universal-Kit-/170720895152?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27bfc220b0

Have you guys heard anything about Deatschwerks fuel pumps? I know they do injectors because I purchased some recently. Autobarn can't get Walbro's from what the guy told me (maybe they could in the past)

i haven't heard of them before, but most of the reviews on the web seem positive. one actually reviewed that actual flow rate compared to the advertised flow rate and it seems that it checks out.

one guy wrote a fairly scathing review but seemed to be purely based on that he found it was too hard to install.

if you can take it back and want the extra coin, go the walbro. If you dont mind spending the extra try the  Deatschwerks and let us know what you think. ;)
the words "race car" spelled backward still spell "race car"?

It's an extra $130 which is definitely some exhaust parts that I can buy :). I think I may go for the Walbro.

Universal Fuel Sock
Guys

After reading the reviews of the DW-301 I am going to try it out. When I got the package (in an unmarked cardboard box) everything was there except for the fuel sock / fuels strainer. Is this included normally with the fuel pump.

Will any fuel pump strainer / fuel sock fit on to the pump or do I need one specifically for the Deatschwerks pump???

That's cool Budgie. If anyone else knows if there is universal types (I have seen them on ebay) let me know. Also thanks for all your help thus far!

Technicallly yes but the reason you'd have it is so big crap doesn't clog the pump I might imagine. I can probably use the stock one but it would be worthwhile to get a fresh one. As for fuel filter, you definitely need a new fuel filter with a new pump and injectors.
