Its been done on GTiR's and Avenirs here and in NZ.

Weld up the centre, then remove front driveshafts and weld up the holes.

Yep, and I've also seen a north south SR conversion done to one.

I would love some pictures of one of these and more info / contacts, that would be great guys.
I will first get my car on the road and then I will be doing this convertion.
I have spoken to a few guys and the easiest option will be the centre diff welded and the half shafts pulled apart and left in the center to support the bearings.

why do you want to ditch the AWD?
the words "race car" spelled backward still spell "race car"?

there was a video getting around a while ago with some asshats in a wrx converting the thing to rwd so they could drift. needless to say they had no idea how to drive a rwd car with that much power and they totaled the wrx by smashing it into a pole :P

the most hillarious part of it all was that they posted the video on the internet, and the local plods caught up with them and prosecuted them (and also had the video removed from the webs. d'oh!)

Yeah, sounds to me like a pretty silly idea downgrading your car. You will have to pull the engine out. The centre diff is in the gearbox, cant get to it without the engine out.

Thanks for all the great reply,s to my thread.

The car was cheap as chips and yes I can drift and have a keen interest in drift and Japanese cars mainly Nissan's and the car will be turned into drift car in the future if you like it or not. And the have a better life than the one it had before just rusting away in a coastal paddock

I lived in Osaka for 2 years and i have seen the the Japs drift all types of cars ex 4wd fwd and old taxi's lol.  youtube makudori -thats my youtube if you don;t believe i was in Japan.

I did not join this site to get your opinion about drift and what i should do with my car, I have a keen interest in the u13 and I think it will be an interesting drift car.

yes it's wasting a 4wd system but meh  it's my car.

unless you guy,s want to save the car and buy it off me ether support my interest in the u13 or don't reply to my thread with negative rubbish please.

I hope I can get some more productive information from now on.

The car was from Harvey Bay in Queensland. It was my friends car.

It stopped on the side of the road so he left it at a work shop there, where it was pushed out the back to rot.

The car was a street away from the water, so there is some surface rust appearing.
If it was there any longer it would be worse.

Thank you for the support.

if your options work out to be better to put a silvia engine and gearbox package in let us all know as someone would quite happily snap up the engine and gearbox off you.

none of us here would be trying to appear negative, the only reason people here will get up in arms about tearing apart a U13 attesa is because of how hard it is to get parts for them here. and some would prefer to see the parts not be destroyed if possible.

no offense intended here mark, we all have an invested interest at keeping these cars on the road and seeing new things done.

hope it all goes well, as i for one would like to see a U13 take the Drift Australia podium :)

I was thinking about converting my AWD U12 to rwd since the rear diff is LSD it would slide nicely, not sure about how strong they are though? as it might stress it a bit if I upgrade to turbo later on. keep us posted :)

DONE
Got her back together yesterday and drove her all day.

So far it is holding up.

I had the motor and mission out, gear box pulled apart and transfer case.

then got a fabricator mate to weld the drive to the rear spine and pinion gear together.

I'm sure there were those who doubted you would go through with this... good stuff sticking to the plan.

So do you have pics of the process or outcome?

Good to see you went through with this. I had discounted you as another douche bag, but really keen to see some footage of this thing now. Viv, you cant mount a FWD SR in a RWD position. Far easier to just buy a RWD SR, they are different.

I will make a small movie for you guys soon.

the car still needs work on the style department, ride height-FAIL, wheels-Fail  also needs to be louder and needs more boost only 6 psi atm - fail lol

I think if you wanted to do a Silvia motor box convo you would be wasting your time sorry to say.

the chassis rails run up and into the front section on the blue, most rwd cars have two rails running straight until the reo bar.
There is only a small tunnel too, no room at all for a transmission.

oh and if the girl was smooking hot would nt be fun to be a Douche bag LOL
