I didnt think there was much difference between the two brakes.

http://www.g20.net/forum/showthread.php?t=84342

That has some info in upgrading the brakes. But depending on what model s14 will depend on the brakes your using as they had different brakes on different models.

We'll need either more info or some pics of the brakes mate.

standard s14 brakes wont be bigger than 300ZX brakes unless the 300ZX hes refering to are the 26mm not the 30mm (theres a good show of images in that link i posted so you can know exactly what your getting.) In which case if they're bigger than the 300ZX or the R32 GTST brakes (the ones im running) you'll have one hell of a time finding wheels to clear them in terms of the spokes making contact with the caliper.

In terms of wheel diameter you'll probably need at least 17" to be safe. But offset wise you'll have to pay for a decent set of rims to clear the spokes, unless you run spacers.

They'll fit, but you'll need at the least:
- new rotors (drilled for 4x114.3)
- new flexible lines
- new wheels to clear calipers

To clear brakes you have 3 options:

1. Buy new rims that will clear the brakes
2. Get some hubcentric bolt on spacers
3. Get some longer studs (nismo) and use slip on spacers

Some people believe spacers will result in your wheel magically coming off but if installed properly they are fine. Wheelworx do a really good price and job with them. They even spray them black so they aren't as obvious. I would suggest better rims though.

New brake lines because there are different fittings on the caliper.

If you want to do the brake upgrade and need to purchase everything you need to budget about 1k all up.

lol 1k! unless that includes new wheels..

mine cost me 220 for blank rda909x rotors (280x30) drilled to 4 stud & 250 for the calipers with new pads (+ 30 for paint & brake fluid lol)

remove the small pip in the brake port on the caliper & your brake line will bolt straight in/on, just screw a self tap screw into the pip & pull it out with pliers

you'll need atleast a 17" wheel with max 40p offset (stock is 45p, the higher the number the further they sit in) to clear the calipers
if not just grind off the 'NISSAN' logo off for a few more mm clearance
go to http://www.midnightmods.com.au/details.php?id=82 for the rotors

my 2c

Plus the cost to machine the OD of the rotor to 274, plus the cost for new brake lines to be made up.

You realize that the fluid runs into both sides though the channels and the last thing I would want to do is give my brakes a chance of failing to save a few bucks. Same goes for pads. What's the point with big brakes with shit pads?

And in regards to brake lines, standard ones will bolt in but the banjo bolt is too long. You can take up the slack with washers but again cutting corners on brakes is pointless and stupid.

yes i realise there is channels in the body, but you'll have to go more than 3cm in before u get close to them

my banjo bolts went all the way in too

mine are the r32 alloy type if that makes any difference in thread depth

i'd take a pic of the depth & the length of the banjo bolt but i cbf taking it apart & bleeding the brakes again lol

yep i noe me again wid more brake fetish questions lol!

what are the jobs of the dust covers that sit behind the rotors?
are their any big pros and cons to having them?
can u run into many issues wid removing them?

reason i ask is, i was reading an autospeed article and they made them sound to be pointles and not worth having while on Noss brake conversion wiki he mods the one there and keeps it.

They're a stone guard more than a dust guard. I havnt been running then for years and the only difference i've noticed is not having stones get caught and rubbing on my discs. Your fine to run without them if you do a big brake upgrade. If they still fit if you do a conversion like noss's then you may as well keep using them.

While we're talking about it - best way to remove them (on the car)?

I'm thinking angle grinder? Or can they be hammered off?

Not that im aware of, i spose its a case of prevention is better than cure...

But in my experiences ive had stones get caught between that and the rotor causing some nasty scratches in the rotor.

I thought they were to stop water splashing off the car onto the rotors.

Water + hot rotors = cracks + warping.

And you do need to cut them off. Tin snips and a hammer will do it.

you can get them off using a chisel and hammer while on the car. ;)
the words "race car" spelled backward still spell "race car"?
