G'Day All!
« on: Mar 10, 2008, 02:35PM »
Hows it going everyone?

The names Tristan, Im from Perth and own a 1991 Nissan TRX.
But not just an old ordinary TRX.

Got referred to this site by a friends friend that he works with.
Hugely happy that there is an online store so huge kudo's to NOSS for that!

The TRX has body modifications, but not to a "ricer" status.
Ill get some pics up asap. The body is Classic White with "Panda" Theme.
Very JDM look, with rims, exhaust, lowered, custom front lip etc.

The engine is under huge modification as of current, being re-created.
Full re-build from scratch, pretty much new everything!
Along with 2.6L stroker kit, turbo, huge head mods, manifold, exhaust, injectors etc...

Suspension and braking are being hugely modified also.
Coilies, slotted GTR rotors and BREMBO calipers etc...

TRX has another stock KA in atm while work is being done DIY in the backyard.
So when the engine is transplanted back in, hopefully soon, I can roll with the WANTRX crew.

Thanks for reading this far, and hopefully I make some sort of good contribution to the site  :)

The old USSR had a single time zone. They had a hammer and sickle in the ground near the Kremlin much like a sundial.
Arguments raged for years as to what to call the timezone
Moscow Time?
Comrade Time?
In the end they all agreed.

I think that's the best number 1 post i've seen from a nooby in my life.

Welcome mate! Post up some pictures of your progress, hell make a project thread!

Thanks Chris, I'm guessing that is your real name  :P, you all seem so nice which is a huge step above majority of the other clubs in Oz.

hey mate
Welcome to the site
By the way - how are you gonna fit on the GTR rotors? have you done a 5 stud conversion?

As noss stated, buying blank ones and getting them professionally lined and drilled, the whole conversion will be done at once with the rotors, calipers (custom mounting needed) with all brand new braided brake lines etc.

hahah awww you've all got someone new to play with now

(sits in her corner)

Ill still play with you...lolz. Looking at the avatar of your TRX made me fall in love with another idea for the paint job.
So Kudo's to you for helping without even meaning to  ;D

welcome to the site mate, i'm sure a lot of people are interested to see the progress of a stoked KA.. a few people here have probably contemplated buying those kits from the states.

wow even a comment from noss himself  :P
Thankyou for the warm welcome from all of you, BTW, Ill be raping your online store soon  ;)

hi mate good to see more people from perth wanting to roll with us.

man with that list of mods you put up your gonna have one tuff ka with a shit load of power, goodluck with the build hope to see pics of it soon.

Hopefully it will pull out some numbers. Im aiming for powercruise entry this year with majority of the work done.
I'm at uni aswell so it's a lilttle bit hard to juggle full time uni and a huge expensive project...and a full time job to fuel the project...determination is the key though.

How much was the Stroker Kit?

Off the top of my head, I couldn't tell you. Im not sure after alot of the work was all being done at once, and with so many parts coming from the states all I got was a huge sum...lol. Ill try and get a break down of pricing if it interests you. Maybe even a group buy for KA stroker kits  :o ;D 8)

Welcome :D

would be cool to see you on our next wantrx cruise (14th of march) :D

I thought dan would be more annoyed seeing as he no longer owns the only turbo trx in wa :P

Unfortunately, the 13th is my 1 year anniversary with the missus...-sigh-...so that weekend is out for me. But, I may be able to sneak out for a bit. Actually, I called some of the boys around and weve started working on the motor again. See if we can get it slightly running before Friday night lol. Worth a try, and its an excuse to get them to work faster  ;)

I'm guessing DTM is Dan? If so, how did your turbo set-up come along? What turbo did you end up going for? FMIC piping, much room for the radiator fans? PSI? lol. Sorry, Its good to know someone else is already in the same sort of boat as me.

So thankyou to everyone again for such a warm welcome, I hope we can all learn something from this project, I know I have extremely already.

I wanted to step away from SR conversion.
And when I first saw USA KA's pulling epic power, I researched, Decided, Bought and Started...

Haha I wouldn't exactly say mine is high end lol

In answer to your other question, it's a stock GTiR T28 turbo. Piping goes from the TB down where the stock air intake is, through FMIC, and around under radiator support and up. Radiator fans had to be "modified" read chopped lol. Stock boost which is 9psi. Still enough to chop Jamie ;)

Welcome to antrx Tristan.

Your project is very interesting and ambitious.  Keep us all posted, as someone else said, also start a project car thread where you can outline progress/parts in an easy to follow fashion.  Helps when referring back to what you've done as well (or so I have found).

WA guys, don't clog this 'welcome' thread up too much.  I know its hardcoded into your DNA :P

Nice. What turbo do you intend on running?

If i didn't already have forged rods/pistons, i most definetly would have gone with the BC 2.6 kit, the only concern i have with running upto a 102mm stroke was rather high piston speeds.
