1.how much could i pick up a ca18de/det for? CA18DE $800, det$2000
2.would this be the right choice of engine ? What do you the car to be ?
3.can it fit the ca20e box? Yes but get a front cut and use the CA18DET gearbox
4.i know it bolts up FAIRLY easily but unsure as to what changes need to be made to the wiring loom etc? Ask kingpin, he has done the conversion.

I wouldn't bother putting a CA18DE in, A CA18DET is worth it, but the CA18DE has less torque then the CA20E that is already in the car. Yes the CA18DE has more power, but you also want more torque.
Your car may be able to go faster.
But I can go any where. except into a garage, underground carpark, bridge...

2 sticks and manual locking hubs. have to get out to drive it around
Good old Nissan.

KA's are the shit. According to all the info on the site, they are better then sliced bread and thats saying something.

yes a CA18DET works niceley i can vouge for that :P

uses ca20 mounts, can use the pinny box, no difference between pinny and sylvia box, throw a borg warner LSD centre out of a XF falcon in dont worry about 25 spline axles the centre will blow before you snap an axle! and get a good clutch.

wiring...well with any conversion just have to get the new motor/ecu wired into the pintara wiring.

all up your more than likley looking at about maybe 4-6k if you did it properly with an exaust and front mount and all that shit.

yep, use standard ca20 mounts and crossmember, ca20 box will also bolt straight up.
if you use the ca18det box, the dust cover needs to be removed/modified.

if you minispool the diff don't even think about keeping the axles, they will snap within a week.
if you really want a bulletproof diff, get a skyline silhouette LSD and the 28 spline axles

wiring is easy if you have a basic concept of electrical work

motor/loom/ecu ~$1500
exhaust (3" turbo back) ~$800
fmic + kit ~$500
professional wiring ~$300

ca18det is a very good bang for buck upgrade.

horse shit. ive actually built a ca18det pinny with 162rwkw, friend and new owner put a borg warner lsd into it and kept the standard 25spline axels and they have copped more than 6 months of CONSTANT burnouts, drag and drift punishment
And there's not much I can say
But we miss you every day
And I'm bitter 'cause it's unfair
We'll be drinkin' in the sun
Playing music having fun
Cause one day I'll see you there

LSD and minispool are two completely different things.
An LSD centre doe not stress the axles nearly as much as a spool

EDIT: Stuffed if I know how a standard LSD has held 6 months of drift, my old fresh rebuilt LSD lasted 2 weeks before it started singling!
