Put them around 32-36psi and then check your tyre wear, as in are the shoulders more worn than the centre... then adjust your tyre pressure to suit.

Shit i run 42 in my tyres. If it drops below 40 i check it and pump them up. Ive been advised to run them this high and havnt had any dramas with abnormal wear.

Well there you go fellas, try 42 or so and then adjust them if you get abnormal wear.

well, i'm definately going to put a little bit more air in them in this case.  32 seems to be at the lowest end of the range.

thanks guys

It depends where you drive and how you drive, and what kind of ride you want.

More pressure = more bumps + wear the centre of the tyre more than the outsides
less = wear the shoulders of the tyres more, but you will haev more grip and it will absorb more of the smaller bumps.

i have 215/45/17 and i run about 36psi. When i got home, 500kms( 300km of it is reasonably quiet country roads with 150-200km of twisty stuff) i let them down to 28 for the extra grip.
Running lower pressures means they will also get hotter when you are caning it and they will wear faster but grip a lot more!
you can get out of a ukrainian prison for 2 packs of marlbro and a bottle of vodka....

A lot of people drop tyre pressures a lot for drags (20psi?), but I don't think such a low pressure would be good for caning the car around corners.

I run mine around 36psi also. I wish I had a big skidpan or whatever so I could really experiment with the car
