1990 Pintara ti, running rough at 2400 rpm
« on: Feb 9, 2006, 07:34PM »
Hi,

My partner has a 1990 Pintara ti and it has developed a weird problem.

When the engine reaches 2400 rpm (by the tacho in the car) it runs rough and gas very little power. It  feels like an electrical problem.

It doesnt always do it but the frequency is increasing.

The mechanic we took it to had it checked on some kind of analytical computer and it didnt find any fault. We replaced the airflow meter (with a another second hand one) - no change. We replaced the oxygen sensor with a new one - no change. There was some corrossion in some of the plugs on the injector loom but cleaning them didnt make any difference.

According to the mechanic the car's ecu fault log doesnt show any problems.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks,
Murray

I'm too tired to post up what I think it is...but to help you -search for these two terms and they should help hopefully:

"limp mode"

"ecu diagnostic"

Chad
First a Silver TRX, then a White TRX...whats next? Game Boy-Clear style TRX?

Thanks for your help Chad,

I will let you know what the outcome is. For a number of reasons I havent been able to do anything about it yet but this weekend I will be working on it.

Cheers,
Murray
