Weird Alarm/Immobiliser Problems
« on: Nov 21, 2005, 06:12PM »
Gday,
I was driving to work today and suddenly I heard a loud beeping noise coming from my engine bay, it was even loud enough for me to hear it when I was driving.
I was close to work when it started so I kept going anyway. When I got there, I turned off the car and it was still beeping so I left it. My remote wouldn't work either, so I could not engage the alarm/immobiliser/central locking so I had to lock the car manually.
The remote's battery is not flat either.
When I got to my car after work, it had stopped beeping but was now making a quieter noise that sounding a bit like a phone ringing.
Drove the car home, turned off the alarm with the special key for awhile, turned it back on and it made a siren noise for a split second and then started making the ringing sound again.
I think my battery is fine as I have no problems starting the car.
Any ideas?
Cheers.

try unhooking your module, then plug it back in, see if that works

Or if you can't get to the alarm module, disconnect your battery for 15-30 minutes.

Just try what Jono said, Disconnect your battery, leave it for a bit and keep trying to unlock/lock your car (with back up disconnected) to drain the current held in the capacitors.. so it completely drains it's power..

When I was leaving for work at 4:15 this morning, my car wouldn't start so I tried pressing the alarm/immobiliser/central locking button on my remote and it worked and I was able to start the car.
The alarm/immobiliser unit itself is off though...
I'll turn it back on soon and see if its sorted itself out :)
If not, i'll disconnect the battery.
Thanks for the reply Chris.

hey man sumfin similar happened to me,
how are the battery terminals? are they fine ?, is the alarm connection to the battery fine?, i found out in the end it was my battery it had a bit of glue on one of the terminals which caused it to go haywire, chek them and that may work
