yeah its an sr20 with vtec (that is what vvl is). so it will fit for obvious reasons. very rare/expensive engines though.

and attachments do work (viewing wise), but for the benefit of people with dial up they dont appear in the post & you have to click a link to view them.

engine looks good but wouldnt it just be better to go sr20det, itd be a fair bit cheaper wouldnt it?

They're similar to VTEC engines, however, Hondas VTEC is a 2 stage system while Nissans VVL is 3 Stage (i.e 3 profiles Intake and Exhaust can turn on at different times)...

Awesome engine...

Fuel economy would be better, as the motor has the ability to change the exhaust and intake profiles at specific times (points in the rev range, or throttle sensing?... or both?).

So the car can putt around never going over 3grand and give you brilliant fuel economy, or you can thrash the bastard around to its redline and get the full power out of the VVL system.
dont piss me off with your pillarless shit captain snappy wrist

Homer!  What have you done to the car?  I don't think it had broken axles before.

Before!  Before!  You're living in the past, Marge.  Quit living in the past.

What, I never said I didn't like it asshat! :P

At least I don't think I did... but if I did, then I'm the asshat.

seeing as they're not making an S16, I'd doubt it...

I've pinched this info from the SR20 forums, but it's what you need to know...

How many different VE motors are there?
There are five (5) VE motors.
SR16VE - 173hp 5 speed Manual 97-2001
SR16VE N1 - 197hp 5 speed Manual 97-98
SR20VE - 187hp CVT 6 speed Auto 97-2001
SR20VE - 204hp 6 speed Manual 2001-Present
SR20VET - 276hp AWD Turbo 2002-Present

How much power does the VE have?
SR16VE - 173hp @ 7800rpm / 119lb torque @ 7200rpm
SR16VE N1 - 197hp @ 7800rpm / 134lb torque @ 7600rpm
SR20VE - 187hp @ 7000rpm / 145lb torque @ 6000rpm
SR20VET - 276hp @ 6400rpm / 228lb torque @ 3200rpm

What are the origins of these motors?
SR16VE - 1.6L VVL motor found in the Nissan Sunny Lucino VZ-R, Sunny GT and Pulsar VZ-R.
SR16VE N1 - 1.6L VVL motor found in the Nissan Pulsar VZ-R N1 and Pulsar VZ-R N1 SSS.
SR20VE - 2.0L VVL motor found in the Nissan Primera (Infiniti G20 bodystyle), Bluebird, Wingroad, and Autobacs Garaiya.
SR20VET - 2.0L turbocharged VVL motor found in the Nissan X-Trail SUV, and Trailrunner Concept Car.

the vvl engine normally sells for around $4500. thats engine, loom & ecu. no gearbox etc. very pricey.
