I don't think it would be worth the effort Danny.

The only CA20E motors that came with the ECCS system in Australia were in the FWD U12 Pintara's and Corsairs.  They had 83kw as quoted from the factory.  From memory the EGI system in the R31's had 78kw??

I would whack in your replacement CA20E running the EGI system (with its HUGE air-flow meter ;)) as a stop gap, then fit a CA18DE, as you see fit later on.

Interestingly, at my mechanics workshop he currently has an S12 Gazelle sitting out the back with a CA18DE under the bonnet all wired up except its airflow meter as we are just waiting on the correct loom connection.  The CA18DE runs an ECCS system which he had wired up by a professional.

ah yeah fair enough...
was just lookin for a cheap alternative to an engine swap haha..
ohwell
guess ill stick with the egi for now..

eventually wen i can find a ca18de im goin to supercharge it and use the gazelle for general track use, circuit, drift, hill climb, rally, etc etc

any1 know of a ca18de in adelaide thats not extremely over priced.
i dont need gear box
just engine loom ecu clutch startmotor and altinator.
and extractors if any1 has em...

would have to be for rear wheel drive..

ever place ive rang has quoted me upwards of $700 for the engine package minus the gear box... even had sum place try to say that the bare block alone includin head would cost me $900 then another $400 for the loom ecu afm starter and manifolds.

I hear ya...  >:(

But no, conversion to eccs is not really worth the effort for such a small gain.

Throw the 18de head onto the 20 block... with associated ancillaries... ca20de should be a little more zip than a 18de =)

And thats bullshit the pricing you are getting...

Look on nissansilvia.com, they have plenty of bargains around.

I got my ca18det engine with manifolds and turbo for 400 bucks. It was blown, but the head and other bits were fine.

Ive seen 18de engines going for cheap as well.

haha yeah been thinkin bout 20de but cant be bothered pullin the bottom end apart to put the crank girdle n under piston oil squiters in..

ive been lookin thru ns regularly. but avnt found anythin in sa..
there was one interstate but i hate frieghtin shit.. guess eventually ill have to get one freighted over..

yes i know the prices r bullshit.. couple months b4 i got the s12 a mate of mine sold his ca18de complete package. box, tail shaft, engine, yadda yadda yadda for $400.
lol
i shall continue to look tho.
coz i rekn a supercharged ca18 will be perfect for wat i want..
not alot of power but enough for it to be fun while im still learnin..
i started driftin in a rb30e r31.. then i crashed that n bought a rb30et and avnt drifted or even pushed it much in that car coz im not used to the power.. ive gone from 90ish rwkw to 160rwkw rather quickly n so just lookin for sumin inbetween to get used to the power haha..
way i see it ca18de+supercharger with extractors and 2.25" straight pipes n pod should see me with bout 120rwkw and a very nice torque figure..

ohwell... hopefully soon ill have pics n dyno sheets for it haha

It doesnt need the girdle or under oil squirters. Only used on the det engine cause its turbo. But if you are just going for ca20de, it will work fine.

EGI -> ECCS is definitely not worth the trouble... You've gotta change the injectors, TPS, IACV, AFM, CAS, wiring loom and ECU. And all of those parts (except the dizzy with the CAS in it) need to be modified to attach to your existing engine.

Just go straight to a CA18DE or CA20DE.
