Pyramat seat
« on: Jun 21, 2007, 05:36PM »
Just chasing after some opinions on this idea.
I won a Pyramat gaming chair, with tweeters and sub built in, from Tooheys, yep i drink too much they give me stuff  :D
http://www.pyramat.com/s2000-sound-rocker.asp

And today being bored i wondered if it would work in my car.
Running of an Alpine MRP-F250  http://www.alpine.com.au/products/product.asp?modelID=251
so i put it in and ran it for 3 min, everything seems fine. Ran straight off the Pre-Out Jacks with the Bass EQ Selector Switch turn on.

2 Problems the sucker wants 12V AC annoying, but easily fixed. And. You need to be a midget to sit on it where it was put, backseat.

There's been a succession of these things over the years, Jaycar was selling off a heap of amps and transducers from a different brand (Aura Interactor) a couple of years ago.

Here's some info on the Aura Interactor.

More random bass cushion/transducer stuff:

I saw an ad for a 'gaming mat' in a computer games mag a while back, it's basically the same thing as what you've got but designed to have someone lie on it in front of a TV.

Slim, what's your opinion on them? What's the sound like compared to a decent car audio system?

Edit: here's some more info on transducers... these have apparently been used in audio systems in place of a subwoofer. I've never heard one but I'll check around electronics places to see if I can pick one up cheap which I'll try out in my car.

transducer never even thought off that.
looking at the thing it makes sense, now way an 8 inch suby could fit in there.

The chair adds good bass and high frequency to my PC sound,, which is a an old pioneer stereo with 2x33Watt speaker units.
really noticeable and even more when being sat on.

In the car i didnt notice much in added bass or db levels.
tested with car stereo low + chair high AND car stereo high and chair low.
The 2 speakers at the top provided more sound then i could here from the bass speaker.
I recorded a movie with the chair in and running at an equal level to the car stereo, PM and i can send you the file.

I would prefer a high quality car stereo with a subwoofer or 2 in my car.
Like i said i won this chair and felt like trying it in the car. If i connected it up and installed the chair as a passenger seat then i believe it would be better than a stereo system.

I have one of those aurora things, just without the backpack part, its just the 'speaker'.  I have it on a board under my bed (where I sit to play games/watch movies).  It is awsome for atmosphere, and does add a little bass to the sound.

In a car I dont think it would really be all that cool, they dont make so much sounds as much as movement.

Mine takes 19v input.
