Where does your temp gauge sit at?
« on: Oct 29, 2003, 11:21AM »
On your u12 pintara/corsair?

For normal everyday driving??

Cause on the R31 the temp gauge would sit mainly between a qtr and a half, and i've noticed on my T, it sits mostly on a half and sometimes goes just above??

it depends on the weather, what coolant you use, the condition of your radiator, how you treat the car where you drive, etc.

Usually at about 20 degree ambient temperature and I usually drive without going over 2500rpm, my temp needle sits at about a quarter, but when sitting in traffic it can go just over a half (say up to the second dot). It never goes above that though but yeah as long as it doesn't go up to or above 3/4 continually you are experiencing normal operating temperatures :)

um the corsairs are usually the same
And there's not much I can say
But we miss you every day
And I'm bitter 'cause it's unfair
We'll be drinkin' in the sun
Playing music having fun
Cause one day I'll see you there

I worry about my car, because it sits on about 1/4 normally, but after only about a minute of idiling.. it goes up to 3/4. it will keep going up slowly until i drive fast for about 2 mins... then it goes back to 1/4..

Ive been told by many people not to worry about your cars temp until it actually touches the red line....

So I think that my car just doesnt like sitting in traffic...can't blame her  ;)

Mines like yours FANC_ME it'll sit on or below about 1/4 until i sit and idle for a bit then it'll go up to halfway but it'll stay there for a bit unless it's a really hot day then it'll keep going.

But after driving for a couple of minutes when the cool air starts flowing in again it'll drop back down

Pretty much should sit between the two little dots... Will vary depending almost entirely on the condition of ur thermostat.

i had that problem on my prev. trx.... from memory i think it was a thermostat problem cos the guy b4 me who owned it replaced the radiator.. That was the problem in my car.. cos it never ever used to reach in between the dots unless u drove it for about 30mins...

my temp guage used to sit above the 2 dots all the time especially after i got the extractors done.  Now after heat shielding, bonnet spacers, and exhaust wrapped extractors and a strong coolant mix she hardly ever does past the two dots!!

Having the same prob as weseal etc.
Looking into what Devil did, wired on all the time.

Perhpas make a switch located in the cabin, so you can turn on the fans or off whenever you like - at the moment, mine are not coming on at all. Only with air con. ARGGHH!!!

Had the sensor swicth  changed twice now too. Something aint right, but sounds like a common problem with our 2.4s????

ur relay is probably dead.. just like mine was..

bad things about switches.. u dont always remember to turn them off!

best solution.. do what i did.. just run it to an accessory wire.. soulder her up.. and bobs your uncle :)

It's probably your sender... they're pretty pricey from memory. Looked at getting one when i put the TRX cluster in.

re oil pressure gauge, mine does the same thing with the sr20, the gauges dont seem to be too accurate, but with ym car it has an extra oil cooler, so it needs more oil in the system than the dipstick indicates, so last oilchange i put more in it and the gauge seems to work better, never dopping to 0 like before, and sitting around 2 after warm up, i dont know, but i wouldnt mind an aftermarket gauge for oil pressure and water temp, cyas
