1200 Bunky ;D
« on: Sep 24, 2006, 09:24PM »
Hey guys for a while ive been looking into buying a bunky/daily, to get my car the TRX off the road to work on. I was thinking either old bluey or a datto 1200/1600, something i could chuck a sr20 in later on down the track  ;D. And finally this weekend i bought one my very first 500 dolla datto 4spd manual reg'od but with damage it needs a new right hand rear gaurd  :( i love these cars something about the grill and headlights just triggers me atm im putting in new floor carpet and touching up panels removing rust etc, anyways i thought id show her off and later on ill start a project on her thinking either sr20 or rb20 but its for later so here is a pick of her now.

I know antrx.com ppl generally don’t like rotors (generally speaking) but that would be mad with a high revving 13b…mmm. Nice little car mate! I can see this car ending up being the project instead of the beater :o

Bah, wouldn't put a stock rotor in one....;D

20BT. Enough said. That's if you like driving around with the front wheels off the ground from every set of lights.

There's alot less fucking around with a Nissan piston engine, wiring should be alot easier.

Dont get me wrong a rotary engine is a good engine, but not as reliable as a piston engine, add fuel economy to.

there was 2 FJ front cuts  from a DR30 RSX skyline and a gazelle somewhere on the intrawebz.....
I cant find the page but it was in Australia, and they looked so good.... my mate has one in his old skool bluebird wagon, and it was insane.....
he took it to the drags and beat pretty much everything but the 20b rotarys...

Ca18DETs are real cheap , $1850 give or take, but the conversion itself will be alot of tinkering, fuel pumps, lines ecu wiring, dash loom

20btt = rape

13b = ownage

sr20/ca18 = ownage

your car is freakin ill, i always wanted one of these, but i'll wait until i have some body work/fabrication experience so i can make it a beast.  whatever you put in it just make sure its turbo mwuahahahha, then try to keep traction haha.

we took my friends turbo civic (13 inch steelies w/ cheap tires) for a ride after it had just sprinkled for the first time in months.  no traction all the way through 3rd gear and he wasn't even wot mwuahahaha.  how much does your datsun weigh?  my friends civic is like 2500 with three of us in it, i bet yours is even lighter, and with one of those swaps thats going to be more power than a 1.5 single-cam vtec turbo.  you should get some 8 inch wide 13 inch rims haha, it would look like a go cart, and probably handle like one too.

haha lol that would be funny, uhm yea i tried putting the TRX rims on the stud pattern is the same but there too wide needs spacers, yea i think they weigh under a tone 700-800kgs not sure but frikin light. It reely needs suspension and brake upgrade because it just cant stop or handle well sooo much body roll you wouldnt beleive lol.

Rims from a FWD will generally have a different offset to a RWD, and hence are generally not interchangeable.

The sedan weighs about 790kg.

One of the better brake upgrades is to use Stanza struts and lower control arms, 200B disks, and Hilux 4-spot calipers.
To tighten up the suspension, a 120Y front sway bar (20mm vs the 1200's 16mm sway bar) will help, although a set of new springs is really required to make a big difference.  Adding another leaf to the rear springs will help tighten up the rear suspension.

Cheers,
Martin.
