U13 Sideskirts Installation
« on: Jan 21, 2006, 01:46PM »
How hard is it to remove/install side skirts onto a U13?
Do they just clip or bolt on?
You can pick up side skirts in excellent condition for $120 from quite a few wreckers around the Brisbane area.
Cheers.

Just had a quick look at mine and there 7 screws holding the sideskirt up from underneath and its glued onto the car around the door area.

Seems quiet simple to do, can just use white silicone sealant to glue the sides onto the car.

If it's not too much of a hassle, could you grab a pic of a screw?
Thanks.

i dunno about AUS spec u13's but over here the cars that come with the sideskirts had holes along the sil panel.  the side skirts had gromets  on the back that fit into those holes. so along with the screws underneath and the "glue" is what held it on.

if you look closely at this pic you'll see the holes:

on non SE models, guys here remove the gromets and used self tapping metal screws and industrial strength 3M tape to hold it on.

Yuck, those holes make the car look horrid.
The AUS/JAP U13 side skirts are much nicer :)

The sideskirts for the JDM U13's were applied the same as what 3391 describes for the USDM U13's

Ahh, stupid me :)
I'll have to check out my LX to see if it has the screw holes.

Brad if you could get some pics, that'd be excellent. PM sent.

Here you go Smelister...hehehe

The first pic is a photo of what the screw looks like on the car (pic was taken from under the rear door just in front of the rear wheel)
And second pic is the screw itself, the head on it is a size 10mm spanner bit. Looks like it goes into a plastic clip under the car.

Just to clear things up, the AUS U13 models have the side skirts attached the same way as the JDM and USDM U13s.
I saw a AUS U13 SSS at a wrecking yard today and that's how the skirts were attached.
