Bill*69 (plus a few more) - 110.5kg

Monday 8 June

Bill*69 - 108.5kg

Monday 22 June
Bill*69 - 108.0kg

LTD - 2.5kg in 3 weeks.

Only 0.5kg loss, but overall im even happy to have lost. Only exercise i got in last week was netball on monday, hardly physical or taxing on the body. Thursday i got to pig out as per my bday wish, HJ's for brekky, MASSIVE amount of KFC for dinner. And saturday night i was on sugary premix drinks all night for my bday... so to manage a loss im still very happy.

Also, as mentioned before, exams are currently taking up all my time, so exercise is becoming hard to come by, but any spare time i have i will hopefully be getting some much needed work in.

This week should yield a bit better result, bit more exercise, less junk food, shall see how it goes.

Gained a bit which sucks, did no exercise at all last week apart from netball, which is the main reason. And a poker night saturday night. This week im finally free enough to do some major exercise, starting tonight with half hour on treadmill, plus netball. Then an hour on the other days... I think ill be hoping for a big loss, depending on how it pans out during the week.

Looking at new bikes, also been invited to participate with a team in the Tour down under amateur leg, so i reckon im going to enter that, bit of extra motivation

I reckon I'm doing the city to bay later in the year. Reckon you'll try? I did the 12kms in 1hr 8mins so need to beat that time.

Do you work somewhere with stairs?  If so, climb a couple flights each day instead of taking the elevator the whole way.  It's an easy way to burn a little extra energy.

Do more cardio for weight loss. Personally, I've tried running 2 to 3 times a week but soon lost motivation and interest. Now, I do basketball as it's a lot less boring. Other than that, I walk to 10-15 minutes Woolies for grocery instead of a 2 minute drive, walk or cycle for weekend newspaper. All exercises really adds up. Of course, a balance diet is important too. :)

Keep up the good work. Keep up posted of your results. :)

Biggest loss so far, still no exercise. Started the exxercise plan tonight finally, will need it as im going away thursday to sunday, and food consumed while away wont be good, nor all the sugary alcohol once again. So massive exercise needed to counter this. Slowly getting there though, and people are starting to notice, which is helping my motivation too..

My blokes trip last weekend didnt help, but as of today im back down, aiming for a 1.5-2kg loss. Its shit, gotta start workin harder, but ive noticed my head is now naturally making smarter food and drink choices, much easier to knock back unhealthy/bad food and drinks, and at least im feeling better, now just to lift the work rate so i can look better.

You're averaging ~.75kg loss a week by eye which is good to see!

I congratulate you on your efforts so far Bill, however;

What's your diet looking like at the moment? Are you keeping track of your bodyfat percentages? What's your water intake?

Alot of weight can be skewed by lack of water, hence water loss on initial weight loss programs then hit a brick wall in terms of weight loss as the water weight loss tapers off.

As the weather warms up you will see your body loose some of that fat a little quicker.

My diet is quite easy to stick to, high fat, mod protein, very low carb (no it's not the atkins diet, that shit is crap) and it yields great results if done correctly.

I mean, who wouldn't want to eat bacon and eggs for breakfast?  ;D

This is the feedback im after lol, no one else seems to help apart from "your gaining muscle mass" or "your not trying hard enough".

Water intake is irregular... If i drink water during the day, ill do about 1.2-1.5 litres, but some days im hardly drinking any at all. Diet isnt too bad, but i refuse to diet to the extreme because that defeats my purpose. I want to lose this weight while still being able to eat what i want every now and then. Not saying im trying to lose weight eating maccas or hj's every night, but im not going to go the whole garden salad and muesli/yoghurt option lol.

I havent been tracking any body fat percentages as of yet, but am thinking i will start as of today/tonight. Before i started this i drank zero water at all, now im drinking more, and more often. I would like to know more about your diet, ive talked to a few different people about their different diets, always good to hear another variation. Either PM or post it here.

And thanks for your feedback chris, appreciate it

Hmm well to be honest, not enough water. Water might initially make you add a little more weight and make you go to the toilet more often (very annoying, I need to go right now actually) but it keeps your body hydrated and promotes the moving of fat cells ready for energy use. I drink about 5-6 600mL water bottles a day so that adds up to about 3L/day. To be honest, it's not that hard, if you have a bottle of water next to you, it will be downed without you thinking.

Hmm, ok - diet isn't for everybody, you can try the 3 days on diet 3 days off. It's popular to get into the rhythm. Die hard dieting NEVER works with new comers and it's not for the light hearted. Hell even the pro's cheat! Speaking of cheat, this is different to everybody, some people cheat by eating maccas and some cheat with more meals than normal. When I cheat I go ballistic, I do feel better the next day though.

For 3 days you can eat clean foods such as baked chicken and beans for lunch, tuna + wholemeal bread, cottage cheese + peanut butter, protein shakes, rolled oats + bannana + honey, multi vitamins, fish oil, apple. They would be the staples of my healthy days with an eye on portions. Off days I would eat "cleanish" fast food, subway, maccas burger for lunch rather than dinner without the chips and coke (last option for cutting man, really but one wont hurt u every now and then), etc.

It's just common sense really. Eventually you will be able to look without thinking whats good and whats not but the start is always hard.

My diet is pretty intense and some people can't do it/can't stick to it;

Bacon and eggs + flax oil
non lean beef patty + cheese + flax oil
tuna +  oilive oil
avocado + egg + beef + cheese + flax + lettuce + ranch/mayo
beef + cheese + lettuce + flax
peanut butter

They call it ketogenic, its when your body enters a state of ketosis producing ketones, it happens when your body switches to fat for fuel rather than carbs. It might sound unhealthy but think of man pre the pastas, breads, etc. All we use to eat was protein and fat mainly veggies have fibre so the carbs don't count, with seasonal carbs from fruits. Eskimo's are still ketogenic to this day, they don't have banana trees there do they? Salmon is their staple, excellent source of fat and protein.

All the fat turns alot of people off, it increases your LDL which is good and lowers glucose levels in the blood. Many miss the cabs, I sure do, I LOVE pasta, so you reward yourself with a one day a week carb up day when you eat the carbs you miss. This is once your body is into ketosis, otherwise 2 weeks with no carbs is a must.

Good thing about ketosis is that it is protein sparing, so when you're running low on energy you won't decay muscle, unlike carbs. You simply eat away bodyfat!

I have friends who have ketobulked and not put on bodyfat, just muscle, and lost fat weight great results.

IMO, I would not try it until you are use to the idea of weighing food and being strict. It's either keto or not, you can't be half arsed.

just refer back to my eating plan on the previous page, which came from a dietitian that i have been seeing, its relatively easy to stick with.. it may sound hard, but its surprisingly not. i'm not saying its the be all and end all of how to eat, but i would say its a lot easier than what chris does :P i have also passed this onto people at work, my ex gf and my little brother and all have lost considerable amounts of weight and find it easy to follow even if they just follow it loosely.

what i find is that when i'm following this after hard exercise, i dont have lactic acid buildup etc.. it makes exercising far easier and more tolerable when your muscles arent burning and screaming for you to stop. the moment i stray from this i get muscle aches that last for at least a day after i stop exercising  and i long for the weekend which is my semi exercise free period.

and its also called an eating plan, not a diet. diets never work.

Your suggestion is valid chris, but surely it'd be more enjoyable to not have to stick to a regime so strongly, and instead just ensure your energy intake is on par (or slightly below for weight loss) with your energy use?

Whenever I look at this sort of stuff, I think, ok that's fine, but will I be able to maintain such a diet into the indefinite future?  If you can't keep it up in the long term, then eventually you're going to slip into some other eating/exercising regime.  I think it's better to engender in yourself an ability to stick with a reasonable and normal (e.g. containing carbs!) diet and reasonable and adequate exercise regime for your whole life, rather than jumping on a bandwagon you'll eventually no longer have the desire to stay on.

Personally, I've never had an issue with weight and am actually pretty skinny (68kg, 186cm).  I eat little meat (500-750g a week), I try and make sure the foods I eat have 10% or less saturated fats and simple sugars.  Carbs and vegies are most of my diet.  I don't do much more exercise than house/yardwork and walking the dog.  I try and make sure I'm getting a variety of vitamins and minerals by varying what I eat across a week.  Now I don't necessarily advocate what I do, but the thing is I enjoy eating/exercising like I do, and I'm very confident I can do it long into the future, so I'm hoping to maintain my weight close to what I have.

Edit: I do agree though, drink lots of water.  It's nice to not feel dehydrated.  I probably drink like 5-10 cups of black tea every day, I piss like a sieve, haha

Yeah see i would try noss, but that would be the same as binge dieting because i simply would not be able to continue it. Im trying to lose this while still eating what i want etc. i love meat, pretty much most days and nights of the week, and only like a select few fruits and veggies.. i will continute this post later on when i have more time lol

If you want to eat a lot of foods with a high energy content, then you have to use a lot of energy or your body stores it as fat for use later.  It can be made more technical than that as I'm sure chris will agree, but essentially that's all you have to think about.  There's three variables - how much you eat, the energy content of what you eat, and how much energy you use.  Change those to suit your desired lifestyle and weight outcome.

Well said narx, keep in mind i'm into weight training so a sacrifice like what i'm doing for summer doesn't bother me too much. In autumn/winter months i'm just a regular + a little more eating.

Anyway, Bill if you want to eat what you want, go for it; avoid carbs as you approach bed time by a few hours, and work out your average calorie maintenence levels, set your "eating plan  :P" under that by 500calories. I could eat maccas everyday all week and as long as i'm calorie deficit, I will loose weight.

I notice you said binge eating? reward yourself with 1 day a week, off diet, eat what you want, slowly reduce it to 2 weeks and be smart about it from there. Listen to your body.

If you have issues with staying away from sweet foods, donuts, milkshakes, chocolate, etc, get some chromium in you; it will supress your need for those, but MOST of it is in your mind.

Power comes from the mind. Keep that one for the mid session gee up when you're about to give up, it works wonders.
Don't let the opinions of the average man sway you. Dream, and he thinks you're crazy. Succeed, and he thinks you're lucky. Acquire wealth, and he thinks you're greedy. Pay no attention. He simply doesn't understand.

yeh bill i know what you mean.. it was daunting for me thinking about it, looking at the list i'd been given.. but once i started i was ok. there is meat every night for dinner and meat for lunch.. its just smaller portions that i'd eat before.

but yeh, as the other guys said, you have to make it work for you.. right now i'm doing whatever the hell i want.. i've been having 1 can of soft drink every day, eating sandwiches for breakfast and otherwise eating irregularly and things i know i shouldn't, but cause i'm exercising, i'm still losing weight.. just much, much slower..

i'm thinking i'll have to start my own thread to keep myself on track.. i'm back down to 93.6kg, but i should be well into the 80's by now. i dunno.

I would personally recommend against binge eating where you eat a lot at once.  Eating 'naughty' things is fine, but I've found that by having consistent meal sizes, my stomach becomes more intolerant of large meals (presumably because I'm not stretching it as far as often), and I naturally feel fuller quicker.

Better week. Still got to eat what i wanted, just ramped up the exercise. At the moment im riding about 5km round trip, majority of ride either slight uphill or into a headwind, in about 12-15 minutes i think. Going to get a stopwatch to be accurate, its probably a bit less time than that TBH. Cricket pre-season has started, also helps the cause. Feeling better about myself slowly which is nice
